Holy shite, this dude actually exists.

Honestly, I don't give as much of a shite as it may have seemed last night, but it's just something I don't do. I used to have a dog, though, who absolutely hated hats or caps indoors and would intimidate people into taking them off.

What if you are eating outside at Le Petite ? Or at a ball game and eating in the club ? Strip Club ?
Are flip flops ok?

I thought some branches wear their covers indoors.
Back on track, dang some of you guys sound old.

But what if I'm sitting right in front the window? Wouldn't the diners inside be offended ?

I never wear hats anyway but I'd like for someone to justify the absurdity of this old tradition. It's just tradition for the sake of tradition with no rational explanation as to why it is rude to wear a hat inside.

Yup. Funny that it's was seen rude to wear a hat inside but it was ok to smoke wherever you like.

I feel awkward wearing a hat indoors. Especially when eating.

Can't wear a hat in the bank I go to.

Well, that's common. They want to see you in case you try to rob the place.
I get not wearing a hat to a fancy restaurant, but why is it bad manners to wear inside? I don't get it. If all we are doing is watching tv at your house and drinking beers I don't get how it's bad manners.

I actually, sort of like this explanation (the second one, more specifically):
quote:
Wearing a hat indoors is considered disrespectful because hats were worn outdoors to protect one's head when working from dust and soot and it was seen as a sign that you thought your hosts' house was dirty. It was also seen as a sign that you were in a hurry to leave so you wouldn't even remove your hat.

I've always thought people who feel like they need to defy "silly conventions" just for the sake of defying silly conventions, are usually lamer than most of the silly conventions they feel compelled to defy. But, that's just me, I guess.

I would back your statement if even a slim majority of people that abide by these silly conventions were familiar with why the tradition existed.

I already know how you just let your drive by edgy cloud your judgment on most matters, though.

If not a hat I wear a headband. Something needs to soak up all the sweat on my brow from that steamy hot bowl of pho.
