Has Lao Gan Ma Spicy Chili Crisp been discussed here? GOAT Asian condiment.

"Lao Gan Ma" = Old Grandmother

I only recently discovered this stuff the past year, but it is awesome. If you've ever been to a legit chinese restaurant, they usually have this type of condiment if you request "chili sauce" or something like that. This stuff is good on lots of food and also adds a nice textured "crunch." If you have an Asian grocery near you, grab a jar and try it on rice, seafood, pizza, etc.

It's not "spicy" in a hot sense, but more so in a savory flavorful sense.

I don’t know if they use this particular product in it, but Merchant has a broccoli and cauliflower chili crisp dish. And whatever is used as the chili crisp is incredible. I bet it’s this.

They have different variations in the store too. I've had one with whole peanuts added and the mixture was a tad different, but also very good.

This one - but it says "fried chili in oil" on the jar:

Picked up a jar at Hong Kong market one day just to try it out, and absolutely fell in love with it. Love it on steamed veggies to give it some extra flavor and contrasting crunch.

I love that stuff. When I was working from home last year, I was making these rice bowls for lunch, with chili crisp, sauteed mushrooms, a fried egg and whatever else was in the fridge. That's an easy meal.

I have a jar of chili crunch from Momofuko, but I forget to use it. Y’all have convinced me to add it to something, not sure what.

I just recently discovered this stuff. Really good and I can’t wait to try it in some different things. I’m pretty sure this was in the FBD Jamboree pork belly for those of you that attended….

I've only used it as a topping so far on certain foods, but I'm anxious to try it with cooking...I'm not sure how it'll do but I can see myself tossing some vegetables and meats in it (since it already has oil) and cooking them that way. I'm afraid I'll smoke up the kitchen if I use a skillet, so we'll see.

My wife likes to make fake "Mapo Tofu" every now and then for a quick, lazy dinner. She just fries up some tofu with Lao Gan Ma and serves it with rice and scallions.

Super simple but pretty good.

You can add it to basically any protein. That stuff is tasty.

It is also very good.

I've heard similar good things about the Momofoku stuff but it seems incredibly over-priced and you have to order it. $30 for three pack of 150 gram jars. I can buy the Lao Gan Ma stuff in a 700 gram jar for less than $10. Is the Momofoku stuff worth it?

My wife bought me a jar for Christmas. It's different than Lao Gan Ma. Less heat, more flavor.
Speaking of Momofuku, their seasoned salts are the shite. You put those on wings, put them in the air fryer and you are done.

I use those things all the time. Last night I cut up some sweet potatoes, coated them with oil and tingly salt and roasted them in the oven. Made a nice side dish with pork chops.

Seems like the Spicy Chili Crisp doesn't have nuts. This is what I found:

Chili Crisp ingredients: soybean oil, chili, onion, soybeans, monosodium glutamate, Sichuan pepper powder, sugar, salt, sulfur dioxide, sodium sulfite.
