Halal Guys locations on Freret and the Westbank have closed

Article about the Freret closure
Both locations were open a little over a year. No word on if the last remaining HG location (I believe) in the city in the CBD is closing as well. Halal Guys was good for what it is, but there's too many other Middle Eastern options in this city that are better and locally owned.

They must be pulling back. The one in Shreveport closed too.
Might be a case of expanding too quickly.

I heard the Shreveport location recently closed. It was also open a little more than a year.
Looks like they had common ownership. The Shreveport Times said last year that three partners based in New Orleans "own three locations: on 70th Street in Shreveport, St Charles in downtown New Orleans and Freret Street in uptown New Orleans." LINK
The article said they "have slated six more franchised locations to open by the end of the year for a total of nine." Not sure if any of those opened.

You shut your whore mouth WonTon. I am probably single handedly keeping the Baton Rouge location open. On the route home from my office and the combo bowl is the bomb.

I like Lebanon Cafe and Byblos but I also like Halal Guys. I hope the CBD location sticks around. It's usually decently crowded.

I like Halal Guys, but as said, there are better, similarly priced options in BR.
(White sauce is bomb though)

The white sauce is so good and the hot sauce is literal fire. The sauce is the only reason I go

I can only handle a literal nickel sized dot of red sauce for a large combo bowl.

I normally add a whole packet. It so hot but so damn good

BR location is next. Horrible staff when they started had a lot of people not giving them a second chance. Place sucks

You have to imagine any lunch place in the CBD is making money.

Lebanon Cafe and Byblos
I always liked Pyramids Cafe off of Claiborne near Yulman Stadium. I used to live in walking distance and go there for grape leaves frequently. That place and the buds broiler next door definitely made some money off of me.

Where was one on the Westbank?

the sauce was so good. However the meat wasnt the best imo... I still got the shreveport one a couple times a month. I liked it. But it was always empty

houston locations aren't exactly crowded either, would not be surprised to see some close here
i think the food is decent, but doesn't really compare to the standalone cart in NYC
and the red sauce should be used for interrogation tactics

Never had it, but the one by me is never very crowded. Not sure how that place stays open but a bomb place like blind butcher has to close.

On my first trip I made the mistake of using red sauce as if it were sriracha. I've never been the same since.

I loved them when they first opened in Baton Rouge but they have seriously gone downhill. Quality of the meat is trash now. The sauce is legit, though. One drop of that red sauce will blow your head off, I love it.
