Any pot that heats evenly on the bottom. So, cheap thin stockpots with no encapsulated aluminum are no good, everything else will work fine.

I cooked up some pork chops in a Magnalite skillet tonight. I've had mine for a few years and like it a lot. It heats evenly and holds the heat.

I use this 6 qt Martha Stewart enameled cast iron pot. Works great.

Caveat: I was born a yankee, so I have no idea if this is acceptable or not.

All of new Magnalite Pots are made in China. The original factory in Sydney, Ohio has been closed for years. I dont believe the current quality can come close to the originals.
You can really feel the difference in the weight, i dont own any of the China ones so cant really comment on the quality but if you want to find some originals i've seen them on ebay and heard stories of garage sales

this is the bottom to look for

LINK

That link has two different size (16 or 20 qt) stock pots from Macy's. I own the 20 qt pot, and really like it. It heats evenly, is sturdy, has a thick bottom. It's a great value for the price, and you can buy it in store, too. Highly recommended.

McWare 14 qt Stock Pot

Don't let anyone fool you that you need old Magnalite to cook well. I've been pumping great meals out of McWare for 10 years. Buy the above pot and you'll be happy. I also use a 13" roaster to cook a gumbo in. Those work well too.

If you want to go with something a little bigger heres a 26 Quart Winco Aluminum 1/4" thick pot from theRDstore.

If you want a stainless here's a 24 Quart. I bought one like this for my sister in law and she likes it. Next time I see one this size in RD I'm going to buy it. I haven't seen them the last few times i've been.

ETA; 20 Quart Stainless from Amazon

I have old Magnalites, but I also have used new ones. The new ones are not too bad. You can tell a difference, but they still work fine.

I have a couple of Tramontina stainless stock pots that are well made and heavy. 12 qt and 24 qt I've had for probably at least 12 years. I think one came from Sam's and the other I can't remember.
Go to someplace like Caire restaurant supply or one that sells to the public and shop around to see what you like. Sometimes you can find a great price on pots online. I have gotten my 100 qt heavy duty stock pot for like 30 or 40 bucks cheaper that way.

I have some magnalite pots from my parents that are 40 years old and I love them. I also have 3 new magnalites that I have received as gifts the last couple years and I love them too. Granted , not as heavy but still very nice and I love cooking with these pots, as well. I make gumbo often and the new magnalite is a great choice. However , I wish they were made in the USA.
