Grand Mariner?

So my wife only drinks fruity drinks and a friend of hers was telling her about Grand Mariner liqueur, she said it was “orangy” I told her I’d never heard anything about it, I drink beer lol.
Question, is it something your normal liquor store carries? I’ve never seen it but never looked. Any suggestions for best brands?

Almost all should have it but I’ve had issues getting it during Covid from my distributors. Usually floated on top of frozen drink ie margarita
Cointreau is a decent substitute.

Plenty of cheaper alternatives. Any orange liqueur will do the trick, most of them at least 50% cheaper than Grand Marnier or Cointreau.

It's MarNIer, not Mariner. Pronounced Marn-yay

I like to sip it on cold days. Expensive.

I believe it's Grand Marnier. Shouldn't be too hard to find in a decent liqour store/department.
I see that I was real slow on the draw!

Crap. I thought McDonalds was bringing back the Grand Mariner back for Good Friday. Never mind.

As others have mentioned, it’s “Marnier”. Yes, it’s an orange-based liquor. Cointreau is a cheaper substitute (but not all that much cheaper, and if your wife asked about Grand Marnier, be nice and get her the real thing).
Any decent liquor store will have both (and by decent, I mean anything a step up from the corner bodega). The place where you grab your beer should have it.

I thought the same thing when I saw the thread title

I love it as an after dinner drink.

The first time I ever tried was after a steak at Ruth's Chris. It was fantastic.
It is a bit over-priced but it is nice to have on occasion.

Grand Marnier is about $5 cheaper than Cointreau here.

Back When I drank 35 beers a night, Grand Marnier was my shot of choice. You have to get it ice cold in the shaker or it’ll be a little rough going down.

I started going to a bar a while back where a lot of the regulars and bartenders shoot that. I had never seen people shooting it before.

My Cajun grandma used to love her some Grand Marnier - platform rocker, some Hank Sr, those were the days!

Pretty good tasting orange brandy.
Now the 150, that's some good drinking. We have a bottle that has about 6oz left. Waiting for a special occasion to cash it in.

Yes, there are cheaper alternatives but they do not taste the same.
I tried cheaper and found nothing that came close enough to Grand Marnier.

I have consumed a truckload of “grandma” in my life. I always shot it, never chilled. It’s smooth, sweet, and dangerous. I truly believe it’s not really a margarita without it either used as the triple sec or floated on top. Super as an after dinner drink with a cigar

FYI, if you go to a place like Total Wine you can get the 50 ml tasting bottle for $2.49
