Boudin east of mIssissippi is like lobster in Kansas. Why even try when it’s so close to drive.

There’s nothing wrong with Bergeron’s or Ronnie’s. Boudin exists just fine out of Scott.

Anybody tried the Boudin Shack on Nicholson and Gardere (next to Lucky Morning Donuts)?

I’ll second the head cheese at Benoit’s. The boudin is passable.

Ronnie’s smoked is better than most. I’m still tasting the “smoke” from the big players long after I want to.

I can’t do Best Stop smoked anymore. My car and I stink for 3 days.

Suggestions?
I hate crossing the spillway!!

Suggest you suck it up and drive at least to Krotz Springs. Or lower your expectations. Next time you make the trip to Laffy, just go buy 10# of boudin at NuNus and reheat in the oven. Consistently better than the hit or miss experiences I’ve had around this area.

I haven't tried it because I moved away but the owners are from the Lafayette area.

Benoit's boudin is the best in the area imo.

I have a being from Opelousas and lived in BR for now 30 years it is very good and close to what you find in Acadiana. Very pricey though as is all these days. I recommend.

I think Market Basket is pretty respectable if in SW LA

It is good. I was talking about the vacuum packaged mass produced crap in the sausage cooler.

I agree and that’s a damn shame because it really isn’t all that good. Under the original owner (Kartchner blood), Ronnie’s was hands down the best. When he sold, it headed south. Pre 2010 iirc

Ronnie's sucks these days. It's pretty bad and far from what it used to be.

River Queen in Plaquemine was really good the last time I had it. In BR, Jerry Lee's is better than Ronnie's and that's a fact jack.

Jerry lee's beef jerky is much better than the boudin.

I believe he is actually from Krotz Springs. Boudin is ok. Which means pretty good for BR

Get the smoked boudin

I know this is not a popular view but if I want smoked sausage it is not going to be a smoked rice sausage. It will be pork.
