Why?
I just find it absurd to a point. I can pay it, i just can't really justify paying it. FWIW, i've never had a beer that cost me $20 that was actually worth it. The best beers i've had have been in the $8-$15 range. I just find $20 to border on the aburd.
However, i also am not a sour guy, and i'm not huge on barrel aged beers. I appreciate barrel aged, i just don't seek them out. Same with sours. I have yet to develop the taste for sours. Most beers in that $20 range is typically sours and/or barrel aged. And i understand why they cost so much, due to aging capacity, barrels, etc...
And on the wine question, no i really don't seek out high dollar wines, because i do not know enough about wine to taste the difference. My favorite wine is Coppola's Rosso, which is a $9/$10 table red.

With my luck they'll be out of kegs by the time I get there tomorrow. Here's to hoping Rouses proves to be a Parish honey hole again.
Let me know if you can't get your hands on one.

Listen here guys. You know my opinion on ghost. I've had it aside by side with abrasive, dj, and heady. I talked about it in fbd thread. My opinion is like everyone else's. A unique opinion. There is no right or wrong one.
Anyway here is my announcement.
I'm going to the brewery tonight or tomorrow to pick up bottles for others. I will be in BR Friday and Nola for mardi gras. I can also ship out of state as many already know. If you'd like some, place orders here. If you know someone who would some, tell them to post orders here.
End of announcement
WANT, will be in nola next weekend

Naw... The fact it's sold out everywhere will keep you from going back for more.

Bruery bois was SO good.

Mogli is another $20 bottle that I thought was worth it. At least once.

If you're trading beers and factor in shipping, going over $20 a bottle isnt that rare.

Is that a sour?
Don't get me wrong, i've bought some $20 in the past, and if there is one that is in high demand, and i'm around, i'll probably snag it up. But if it's a sour, i'll pass 95% of the time.
I did see the Bruery white oak beer is out. Is that a sour as well? I've had Mischief, which was pretty good, and i also bought Saison Rue, which i liked. Right now I have Saison de Lente in my fridge which i'm saving for to drink around Easter.
I'm still giving the sours a try, here and there, but mostly i just avoid them.

- I guess I just don't think of $20 as that much money. No more so than Parish beers being $11.99 a 6 pack for an amber or pale ale.

Very true... which is why I try my best to ignore what I spend of shipping.

Yeah, i don't do this. I've ordered from blackwell's before specifically to get some Pliny, and to me, it was worth it. Again, the beer really has to be worth it for me to spend $20+ for a brew.

Nope.
Bois is our fifth anniversary ale, loosely brewed in the English-style Old Ale tradition using our house Belgian yeast strain and then blended using the solera method. A portion of each of our anniversary ales is saved in our barrels and blended in with the next year's production, providing more complexity and depth of character that comes with age. Layered with complex flavors of dark fruit, vanilla, oak, and burnt sugar, Bois is a robust ale, surely the perfect beer to mark this major milestone.

Well fudge me in the arse. I was at the Brewery Saturday. 3 full cases sitting on the ground plus at least another case on display. Who the shite bought my supply!!
Anyway sorry to everyone. Looks like I won't be getting everyone some. I'll try to get as much as I can once it hits shelves... but not sure how much that amount will be. Everyone can still let me know and I'll do my best and get back to everyone.
But I for damn sure am going fill my growler tonight.

Can someone bring a bottle of Ghost to the Abita tasting room and dare them to say it doesn't blow away anything they've ever bottled. Maybe that would light a fire under their asses. Same with NOLA, maybe they could make Mecha worth a damn.
