These are always on sale. My local store has them on sale for 69 cents a lb. (10 lb bag frozen) this week.
Just curious to see if anyone has a recipe that they have actually used these for that works.

Smoke
Grill
Bake
In that order. Some around these parts will use bone in chicken for Gumbo and Jambalaya, which will definitely improve the taste but I’m not trying to deal with the bones while eating something like that.

What he said^^^^^^. We also buy the 10 lbs. bags, along with other proteins, to make our dog's food. Can't beat the price.

boil some with vegetable scraps to make a flavorful broth and the meat can be thrown in a chicken salad or stew

When I was a student at LSU, they would run them for like 29 cents a pound. Three bucks for a ten pound bag, some charcoal, and a few volunteers to bring sides, and you had a party started.

Sprinkle with BBQ rub
Smoke for 2-3 hours
Put in 350 degree oven
When you see the skin start pulling tight they are ready. The leg bone will just slide out. Eat straight up or great for gumbo

Anything you can do with a whole chicken you can pretty much do with leg quarters.
Like already mentioned, smoke them, BBQ, bread and fry, baked with herbs and some fresh vegetables, make chicken noodle soup, gumbos, King Ranch Chicken Casserole, chicken salad.
Use the piece of pelvic bone you cut off and make some chicken stock. I'll get at least 2 intensely flavored quarts when I make my stock to be used in other dishes.

You can pretty regularly find these for <$0.50/lb already thawed. I smoke them off and use as a starting point for a big pot of gumbo, or just debone and chop em up to add to anything. They make great tacos and salads.

We do chicken Dinners with them. We clean them, rub them down with olive oil, season them heavily with creole seasoning and paprika, cover them and put them in the fridge on Thursday. On Sunday morning we go in and stick them in our convection ovens, covered for 40 minutes at 350 and uncovered for 20 minutes. We sell 700-1200 plates everytime and people love them.

Crab traps. Caught 70 crabs in 5 traps with that 10lb bag of chicken. Left it in the back of my truck overnight to thaw and marinate.

From time to time, I want ghetto style bbq. I don't know why, I just do.
Legs quarters rubbed with salt and pepper, grilled over Charcoal, burned a little and then slathered in kraft bbq sauce. Serve that shite up with some mayonnaise potato salad with black olives in it and baked beans.
That shite's frickin' good man.

1. Split legs from thighs
2. Debone thighs, remove skin
3. Render fat from skin. Proceed to brown chicken legs, then put on smoker
4. Smoke thighs, or season to use for boneless chicken recipes later
5. Use smokey bones to make a stock
I can make a dozen meals out of one 10lb bag. Possibilities are endless...

You must be feeding yourself to get a dozen meals out of a 10 lb. bag of leg quarters. Most 10 lb. bags only have between 8-10 leg quarters depending on the size of them.
