Yes, there's actually a well documented, scientific reason for this. Believe it or not some people are genetically predispositioned for it to taste like soap, basically.

No shite?

I like it too, but I could go without it also.

To me, it tastes like the way a stinkbug smells. Kind of hard to describe, but I despise seeing it on any dish.

I've heard boiling it gets rid of that taste, but then what would be the point of having it on food to begin with?

I eat Hog Head Cheese alone at the house on Sunday all the time watching football, while the wife and kid are away.

There is nothing worse than when you go to a restaurant and taste cilantro in the salsa.

, I've eaten it more than once, so I can't say I hate it. I just think there are far better spreads/dips than hog head cheese.

Hell yes. I've long suspected that cilantro must have a something in it, simiar to phenylthiocarbamide.

If you've taken some science labs in college, you might remember this chemical. Everyone puts a strip of treated paper on their tongue. Some react, others don't. "It has the unusual property that it either tastes very bitter or is virtually tasteless, depending on the genetic makeup of the taster."

I didn't taste anything. Others reacted like they put poison in their mouths.

Some people claim cilantro has a very "soapy" taste. I do not taste "soap" at all when I put cilantro in my mouth.
