I plan to be there at 11:00 today. This list of food just makes my mouth water.

Yum!

Top of my list is the goat cheese crepes from Muriel's and the grilled chicken livers with pepper jelly from Praline COnnection.

Roast Beef Po Boy with Pickled Red Onions and Horseradish Cream $7.00

man, i would get so much shite from some of my NOLA friends b/c i would put pickled onions or peppers on roast beef sandwiches, along with horseradish to balance the mush and richness. This combo is fricking good, who cares if it's the "real" way.

Can't wait to stuff my face all day tomorrow.

Good thing the festival is free.. That means more money to spend on the deliciousness

You can always see if they have a "donations accepted at the gate" box.

Boucherie always has a little twist. Steamed mussels with collard greens? Who knew mussels could be Southern food? They are really great.

Once again I will say, that I do not get the love fest with people wanting to go to festivals to try out restaurants that are set up cooking out of a tent. I just do not get it ...

I would rather not fight the crowds and check the actual restaurant out on my own.

Some items transfer to that style, but most aren't as good as eating at the restuarant.

I hear you. My in laws can not believe that I have ZERO interest in ever going to Jazz Fest. My answer is that I hate crowds and I hate music - why in the world would I want to go to Jazz Fest. They always come back with the food angle.

Yeah I also want to go stand in huge lines to try out food that is not as good as I could get at these restaurants ..

i'm firmly in that camp as well. They also often get overwhelmed with crowds, heat, set-up, etc and the product suffers a bit. But hey, whatever floats your boat. I guess one positive is it allows to try a few different places at once...but it still means sitting in line forever.

I tend to focus on the music and shite tons of beer.

A meat pie, cold beer and local music make life worth living.

that's more my speed for a festival. beer, music, and something easy to hold and fairly quick to eat. No utensils needed.

meat pie, link of boudin, hunk of pork btn white bread, fried corn and cheese cake/sandwich, meat on a stick, etc.

Ate at Muriels only once (5+ years ago, the Mannings were there) and that is the only thing I remember from the dinner.

I understand the crowd angle but what is great about it is the number or great restaurants in one area where you can get $5-7 samplers at a number of places.

I have to be honest. That lineup does not look all that fantastic. There are some high points there, but not worth driving down and standing in line.

i don't think any of the food lineups alone at things like this are worth a drive, not even close. But, add in that it's free, good music lineup, and outdoors and it's a nice day trip.

I'm from New Orleans, and if I had to exclusively listen to the stuff down here, I'd be miserable.

When Jazzfest comes, I'm much more worried about Jeff Beck, Sam Bush, etc. as opposed to Trombone Shortbread.
