did i say FQfest sucked? i already said i liked and it was good music.

it was a simple observation that limiting your musical exposure to only local music is a sin...that "live" fits better than "local" in that statement. that's it.

Live/local, it's all good.

If you stay away from Crawfish Monica, Cochon de lait poboys and crawfish bread, the lines at JF are usually not more than five minutes. FQF rarely has lines this long. Have patience, Tigre.

BTW, it's 70 degrees, not a cloud in the sky, and I'm about to go enjoy the HELL outta some FQF. Till next time...

just head through the smog and get to that free music fest with great food in the 200 year old historic section in downtown los angeles. You can kill 2 hours there.

French Quarter Fest Results:

Goat Cheese crepe w/ crawfish sauce: was pretty good
Crab meat ravioli: pretty good
Chicken and Artichoke Strudel: pretty good
Bread pudding w/ whiskey sauce: COLD and NOT GOOD
crepe w/ strawberries and nutella: pretty good
Alligator and Crawfish cheesecake: ok

All in all...not impressed w/ a single dish.

ETA: nothing made me go "mmmmmmmm this is good"

ETA: I'd rank them: ravioli, crepe, strudel, cheesecake & sweet crepe, bread pudding

gee, any articles this week about Jazzfest? Oh, here we go:

I'm planning to go to the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival next month, and I say that with great anticipatory thrill. And dread.

At this moment, while we're girding our loins in Austin for this month's South by Southwest onslaught, how can we possibly contemplate plunging into yet another soup of maniacal music mobs and long food lines?

quote:

Eating your way through Jazzfest is an art in itself, and those who are dedicated to this art start early — no later than 11. After that, the lines can get horrifically long.

but, but Lester says there are never long food lines at Jazzfest.

I mean, if you've been to JF, you know how long the lines are, or aren't. It depends on what line you get in, and how long "long" is. I probably had to wait 10m for a cochon poboy one year, that was the longest line I can remember. So if that is "long," then I've waited in a long line. OTOH, I walked up and got a crawfish pie with zero line. Doesn't make a difference either way, its not like you're standing there by yourself like a loser.
