I have a camp chef right now. Tell me how it’s a huge step up?

Zero fluctuations in temperature. Better taste/smoke flavor. Nice not having to keep checking the pellet level and can check the smoker temp/meat temp on my phone and adjust temp as needed remotely.
Don't get me wrong, I loved my camp chef. But the rec tec is in another class. The rec tec is also built like a fricking tank

700 is way too high! 225 to 250 is the way to go.

Thanks baw. I prefer my brisket charred with 1/3rd the cooking time

So that’s my biggest complaint with my camp chef, is that you have to smoke something for hours to get any smoke on it. Chicken halves for example are difficult because the pit is so good at cooking.
The fluctuations in temp aren’t that big of an issue to me. My camp chef does have a very nice app that goes with the pit that allows you to set times and temps and monitor cooks.

So isn't the Camp Chef a pellet grill too?
Well from your logic and advantages you list, wait until you finally upgrade to a Yoder, Or Mak's, or Pitts and Spitts. Then you'll have the ultimate?

That's the fun part, IMO

Same here. I'm curious what Camp Chef model he has. I have a Camp Chef Woodwind36 and a Rec Tec 1250 and they are very equivalent to each other in quality and performance. The Camp Chef has some creature comforts I wish the Rec Tec had.

How is the smoke flavor compared to coals/wood?

A pellet can't touch charcoal/wood smoking.

I prefer to have some bark on my brisket

Need sliced pics with juices to compare. Otherwise it could just be a dried out brisket.

What do you think the pellets are made out of?

Why does that first brisket look like the back of Ed Cooley's head?
Posted on 5/22/22 at 7:25 pm to Chucktown_Badger
That’s better but I want it even more consistent

Last brisket I did on my recteq… you can definitely get legit bark…
