Today we announced that Epicurious is cutting out beef. It won’t appear in new Epi recipes, articles, newsletters, or on social. This isn’t a vendetta against cows or people who eat them. It’s a shift about sustainability; not anti-beef but pro-planet.

Da frick?
Epicurious is the best website for aggregating recipes from all of the reputable sites too. Ugh. Guess I'll stick with Serious Eats.
It pained me to give them money, but I got a year subscription to NY Times Cooking so I could get past the paywall that always stopped me, and it has been well worth it so far.

And yet we know that home cooks want to do better. We know because we actually pulled the plug on beef well over a year ago, and our readers have rallied around the recipes we published in beef's place. For every burger recipe we didn't publish, we put a vegetarian recipe into the world instead; rather than articles about ground beef, we talked about alt-meats from brands like Lightlife, a sponsor of this collection of recipes. And last summer, when America’s annual grilling holiday rolled around, we set our fires on cauliflower and mushrooms, not steaks and hot dogs.

but they won't go as far as to remove all their old beef recipes, so this is just another hollow virtue signal
and I like how they say that the stopped promoting new beef recipes last year, but NOW they feel the need to capitalize off of their good deeds, instead of just doing what they were doing and not trying to score virtue points by announcing it
this stuff frustrates me

Okay, cool.
I'm still going to eat beef, though, so I guess I'll look up recipes elsewhere.

Rest assured, the beef recipes that were published in 2019 and before are still on the site; they are not going anywhere.

I'm searching random items that include beef and can't find anything. Even burgers gets nothing but faux meats and bean burgers.
Maybe they are just burying all the old stuff? Or I have my beef safe search filter on

I guess I'm just searching the wrong kinds of beef? shite's got me confused

It looks like they are burying beef searches on their website, but if you Google the recipes, they appear just fine, which is what most people do anyways

Why ban beef recipes? Why not just add the bean recipes etc...? This is just silly.

Jesus frick. I hate the world we are becoming so much. I weep for what this planet, and more importantly, this country will look like by the time my grandchildren are my age.
