Eleven Madison Park is considered one of the finest restaurants in both New York City and the world -- and starting next month, it will also be completely meatless and almost entirely vegan.

What a clown world we are living in. This was one of my bucket list restaurants to try, but I have no desire to go now. I'm sure a vegan menu will still be good, but can't imagine paying what it will cost for that meal and have it be all plant based, nor do I want to placate this ridiculous virtue signaling.

We are heading to the worst timeline.

Yep, that was a bucket lister for me too. No more. Plenty of other great places to eat in NYC. If I want to go meatless, I'd at least go back to Le Bernardin and get another 3 Michelin star seafood meal.

There is a world where true fine dining exists, with ever changing concepts. And one of those places would be New York City.

But hey, continue to politicize every little thing.

I honestly love vegetables, but I have no desire to go eat in a restaurant at that price point that has no dairy, no animal fats used in any of the preparations, no meat or seafood, etc.

I am not someone who needs a big hunk of meat to call something a meal, but animal fats play a really crucial role in flavor IMO.

I'm sure the brilliant people at EMP will come up with some some beautiful items that I would enjoy alongside other non-vegan foods, but it wouldn't be high on my priority list in the city when there are plenty of other non vegan options that are highly rated.

In what way did I say anything political? I said he was virtual signaling, and look at his quote he clearly is. Talking about unsustainability and having to change how we eat, right when the push to limit beef consumption is becoming a more common talking point clearly shows he is trying to get his kudos from those people.

He wasn't "changing concepts" 2 weeks ago was he?

Yeah man, only eat well done choice steaks and deep fried catfish.

I love vegetables. We have meatless meals about once a week. I would absolutely love to see what a world renowned restaurant can do with only vegetables.

However, I'm not willing to pay that price point for it. I assume many will though. Although I can definitely see them adding back meat in the not so distant future.

Doubtful. L'Arpege in Paris has been meatless for many years and has 3 Michelin Stars and is always booked solid.

There's a place for it in the ultra-high end dining world.

It wouldn't necessarily stop me from going to Eleven Madison.

The price would though.

The concept of outright eliminating the entire animal kingdom from a menu doesn't sound like the greatest idea in the world. It can only limit you.

That being said, I'm sure I'd really enjoy their offerings even if it's all vegan. I enjoy a lot of vegetable dishes as it is.

Earth shattering info. It's ok to admit when companies virtue signal, likely at the expense of the bottom line.

I can't imagine this would put them in danger of going out of business, but it almost certainly will not be a net positive.
