I think they should open a store in lake Charles around Nelson road, the closest thing lake Charles has to a good grocery store is market basket

It will be a high-end AG store.... Not caladros though...

Anyone of their stores to compare it to?

Or will it sorta be a new concept?

HEB has been the best grocer in Texas for many years.

False. Cheapest, yes. Best, hell no. Bakery/Deli/prepared foods suck. Meat market selection sucks. Though it has all the staples and then some. No, it's cheap, and that's why I go.

also only the new HEB's are good, they have a lot of shitty stores all over texas

This.

Most HEB's are all white and sanitized looking. And many are very gross.

HEB stands for Howard Edward Betts.

No, it's Butts.

HEB has good prices, decent produce, and good service, but don't expect to find any "non-white people" cuts of meat...And their prepAred selection is truly gag inducing.

Rouses prepared food is so above and beyond any other grocer it's not funny

The HEB in Katy blows Rouses out of the water when it comes to produce, meats and selection, I don't buy prepared food so I can't comment on it.

It'll be one of the most high end supermarkets in BR.

Will it be like Calvins, they're the only high end store in this town.

The only? How do you define high end?

I have not been to the new Rouse's in the warehouse district yet. However from everything that I've seen and heard it is much different than the rest of the chain. The Rouse's in Metairie are just regular grocery stores with sub-par prepared foods. Very disappointing IMO. Rouse's is the most over hyped thing on the F&D board.

I agree, Rouses is the most over-hyped store in nola area. The Rouse's nearest me on Power sucks. Everytime i go there im extremely disappointed. The produce is always old and nasty. I was trying to get some romaine last time and it was slimy. The freezers break a lot too at that location and entire sections will be empty. I avoid them now at all costs.
I really wish we had decent groceries here like Pubix, HEB, Trader Joe's, etc. More of a choice would be great.

The Rouse's in Youngsville and Lafayette are just nice grocery stores.

They will dry age a rib rack or t-bone rack for free.

Baked goods are pretty good, but not the selection of a Whole Foods by any stretch.

Every time i drive by the old empty Sav-A-Center on Sherwood and Coursey, i think to myself a Rouse's would kick arse in that spot.

Hell, they took over all of the old Sav-A-Centers in NOLA, didn't they?

Not to mention, SEBR would be able to support that location.

I wish. We love going to the one in Houma on the way to our camp. Best grocery store I have ever been too.

I would frequent the one uptown and felt the same way. Good place but certainly not this unmatched, amazing grocery store that everyone on this board seems to believe is the best in the state or something.

Very odd because its in fact only here that I see people purport this about Rouses.

The new stores(built in last 5 years) are totally different than the older ones.

HEB in 1976 was a stagnant grocery store chain referred to as God's grocery store cuz day closed on Sunday and didn't sell beer and wine! All that changed on July 4th weekend when 1 Fully Clingman made a statement that until they opened on Sunday and sold beer and wine that sales would be stagnant and the meeting Charles Butt had called for over July 4th weekend was a waste of time! Charles made Fully COO of HEB and the rest is history!Fully was born and raised in Natchitoches! After Hurricane Andrew HEB sent 10 18 wheelers with Ice to New Iberia's Bellaire subdivision and distrubited them to the local people! HEB is the 2nd best independant/privately owned grocery store chain behind Wegmans( every wegmans is like an HEB Central Market)! HEB will invade Louisiana soon!!!!! Trust ME!
