And the rule only eat oysters in months that have an ‘R’?

I thought this was throughout the South but apparently not

I'm hurricane drunk, so no, I don't have oyster roasts in my state I actually went out oystering for the first time 2 years back. They were better than I'd thought they'd be for local, wild.

No, the oysters here in Colorado are not quite the same as back home.

I’ve heard they’re a little nutty.

If you're referring to Rocky Mountain Oysters, everyone has heard of them. Sorry to disappoint

I remember we would get a sack when I was a kid. Set up a fire on the ground with a big grate held up by concrete block. Pour out the oysters on the grate and get them When they would start steaming.

We would eat some, some would go back on the fire half shell and put butter and garlic on them.

I might get some for the Traeger.

If you roast them it does t matter what month.

I’m planning to move to Charleston in the next year and can’t wait for the first oyster roast.

And they basically said that’s an old wives tale.

I wanna do this on my GMG. You don’t smoke them long at all.

Any questions about oysters. AMA as the OT says. I’ve worked with 2 marine biologist from LSU with over 60 years of oyster and aquaculture experience to create a beautiful self sustaining farm raised oyster. The R thing is a myth and a fact. Trust your farmer is the key.

Yes! I plan to start doing oyster roasts in South Alabama in the near future. We did one in Wilmington, NC that was great.

Yes, oyster roasts are very traditional on the Georgia coast. Spread oysters on a big metal sheet over a fire, cover with wet burlap bags and roast till the oysters are popping open.
