To me, the difference between Ghost and DDH Ghost is not so significant as to pay this and drive to Broussard instead of driving to Breaux Mart and paying $11.99 for a 4-Pack.

Apparently they forgot to look at the cases of OJD sitting around before they set the price for this. Good luck Parish

Hopefully if this doesn’t sell out they will finally realize it and lower by about $5

I was just looking at the price per can/bottle compared from last time and diving it by the 4 extra ounces

For the record, it was $18 for the 12oz bottles.

Well there you go. Same price point. I just have an easier time spending under $20 for a package of beer than i do spending $23, regardless if i get more ounces.

I look at it this way. I really enjoy my beer at my house during the week. I typically have a pint just before or during dinner. So though i may be getting an extra 4 oz per can, i am drinking only 1 bottle/can that night. So to me, adding 4 oz in that container doesn't move the needle for me.

Again, these are my personal quirks when i drink. Enjoy your 16 oz.'ers.

ETA: I see my downvote stalkers arrived. Bless your hearts.

Double dry hopped.

The act of double dry hopping

They are doubling the the unknown amount of dry hops from the single dry hopped beer

Eta: double means twice the amount of the unknown hops

it means more hops. There really is no definition of dry hopped vs. double dry hopped. People define it however they want.

It should mean double the hops of the original batch. So take ghost, and double the hops. But it could mean, another hop addition, but with slightly more hops than the original.

It's a subjective term, but it should mean 2 times the hops of the original batch. Sometimes though, there becomes a law of diminishing returns. Certain hops get very grassy the more you add, so you may have to reduce that type. It varies, but it typically means more of a hop presence in the beer. Parish does a good job with their DDH beers. I've had beers from some places that were DDH beers, and they were pretty bad. Then again, these were original beer formulations. SO if you have a brand new beer you come out with, first of its kind, and call it double dry hopped, technically you aren't doubling anything. That is just your standard hop bill, it just may be a little higher than other beers.

Plain and simple, it's mostly a marketing gimmick.

that price is fairly standard for what you're getting.

I would put $23 for a 4pk on the high end.

Just look at recent Monkish, Other Half etc posts as a comparison. For $23 it is usually be a triple dry hopped, high ABV IPA.

I am not sure $23 is worth yelling about but it's absolutely on the high end especially for the market.

I'm not a fan of high ABV beers. Parish is doing it right with ghost, for my tastes. 8% is perfect. Once you start getting higher, all i taste is booze. For that, i drink bourbon.

But i get what you are saying, higher abv equals higher material cost.

I thought their shitty canning operation in Florida would allow them to distribute more of their interesting releases, but this is the same ol' Parish BS.

Good stuff is only available if you're a hick living in the middle of nowhere.

Pretty sure the intent is just to sell more of their beer. They are brewing ghost year round now, though. So that's promising. And hopefully Reve' stays year round too.

I'm sure I would pay more than $5.75 per pint at any bar I go to, this price doesn't bother me much.

$40 though, going to have to pass. I'm glad I still have one (or maybe two) from that release.

I want to get one each of the Reserve releases, but I'm not going to deal with the crowds, I'm sure they will be on shelves at some point.

Barleywine is life, after all.

Parish is getting to Raising Canes levels of absurdity with their pricing. I get that it's a special run, 16oz cans, etc... still doesn't seem worth it.
