Copeland's alternatives

I'm meeting friends in New Orleans this weekend, and their suggestion for dinner is to drive to Metairie and eat at copeland's, because they don't want to eat anywhere "too fancy."
Most of the places I like to eat in the city are, admittedly, pretty fancy.
So I need recommendations for a comparable restaurant to copelands but one that doesn't suck.
Please help, I really don't want to drive to New Orleans (and then to Metairie) to eat at copeland's.

Wow get new friends.
If they insist on metry and that style of place, Legacy Kitchen is ok I guess. A lot better than copelands.

If they want something casual, High Hat and Cowbell are both really good.
Your options may be limited due to short notice, but you can also try somewhere like Domenica or Luke.
ETA: Are they concerned about price or fare offered?

go to copelands and get a drink and the crab claw appetizer, then go somewhere else
as an aside, the copelands on essen was one of the worst dining experiences ive had in years, even with my low expectations. frickin horrible
the one in lafayette is usually pretty good in a pinch

There are very few Nola places that have much of a dress code.
High Hat is an excellent suggestion. Not fancy at all, good price, good food.

The Copeland's I used to eat at in Slidell was always good (crab stuffed mushrooms, shrimp & tasso pasta).
As an alternative to Metairie, drive the lake and eat at Morton's in Madisonville. Great setting, pretty-good food, and classic LA seafood ambiance - not fancy.

Guys, I can't thank you enough for all the suggestions. Hopefully one of these will meet their absurd qualifications, and all sound better than copelands.

Copeland's is just plain bad and if you had to stay in Metry, I venture to guess that almost everything you can order at Copeland's can be had at Vincent's or Cypress for not much more money. You'd even be better off at Zea's or Bonefish for that matter...
Edit to agree with the R+O's suggestion from others. Is New Orleans Food and Spirits still over in Bucktown? That's another option infinitely better than the Copeland's shite sandwich that I remember...

I was going to suggest R&O's, also. Several beat me to it. Go with it. Fits the description and you'll all enjoy it tons more than Copeland's.

Landry's? or Oceana?
I haven't been to the Landry's in the quarter but I enjoy the one on the lake every now and then. I love sitting outside and watching the boats come in at sunset.
