Buffet chain Cici's has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and announced its sale to D&G Investors, its primary lender.

While the coronavirus pandemic has lifted sales for pizza chains like Papa John's, Domino's Pizza and Yum Brands' Pizza Hut, buffet-style restaurants like Cici's saw their sales plunge. All-you-can-eat establishments were already struggling before the crisis, but dining restrictions and consumers' heightened concern over cleanliness accelerated their decline.

Wasn’t it $2.99 all you can eat at one point?

CiCi's regular pizza was disgusting, but their dessert pizzas were on point.

The Golden Corral in West Monroe folded. If they can't make it there I'm not sure where else they can make it...

It sure was. When you have no money, Feces Pizza was heaven.

I enjoyed their alfredo pizza quite a bit. Their buffet was not as good as Gatti's, but it was like half the price so...

Yep. My first job out of college was a block from a Cici's. I ate there way too often, and usually had awful diarrhea the rest of the afternoon.

I’ve been to Golden Corral 2x with in-laws after church when we would visit them in Virginia. I thought that crowd was iffy. Went to the CiCis on Airline across from Zephyr Field once with my nephew after a trip to Harbor Freight. Pizza was Ok, but the crowd was worse than trailer park trash from New Sarpy. People putting slices of pizza in purses, filling up half gallon coolers with drinks. Never again.

This is an interesting video about Cici's. One of the founders left in 2003 and after that they went on an expansion boom and lowered standards for franchisees. These bad franchises pulled the company down.

Friend,

How disappointing! I had the distinct pleasure of eating at CiCi’s twice, first after a great volleyball game victory many years ago and then last year, just before Christmas, as chronicled in TulaneLSU’s Top 10 dishes of CiCi’s Pizza.

Yours,

I think I last went to a Cici’s in 1999. Didn’t know they still existed.

The last time I was in Golden Corral was in Chattanooga. There was an old woman blowing green snot into her napkin. Kinda lost my appetite after that.

Last time I ate at one was around 2004 when my wife was pregnant with our first kid and we passed it in a shopping center and her pregnancy cravings went through the roof. Place was absolutely disgusting. Felt like I needed a Hepatitis shot and a Lysol bath when we left there.
