I'd eat the hell out of that.

And now I want to make chili for this upcoming cold front.

That's similar to my recipe. I use a heavy stout instead of a lager, no tomatoes, and if I do add ground meat,

If you do not use tomatoes, then what do you replace it with for liquid purposes if all is equal.

I get enough liquid from blending the dried peppers with beef stock and from the beer.

Looks good. I'm not a chili with beans person since I like to put some up for the wife to use when eating her Nathan's hot dogs off the grill and beans won't work in that situation.

Unlike some folks on here, I'd never downvote a post with such detail simply because of 1 ingredient they wouldn't use.

That looks damn good, beans and all, and I'm not a beans in chili fan usually.

I had been debating what to cook on Sunday for my usual "protein for my lunches all week" program, but I think I just found my candidate.

Hell I might even add the beans.

Agreed. OP took the time to take all the pictures and post them. I love when people make threads like this.

I add beans to my chili solely because, when I make chili, I want it to last a week, and beans are a cheap way to stretch the volume

I'll probably be doing exactly this as well

Nice job! I use to be militant about beans, but have cooled on that as I got older. I would tear a bowl of that up.

Way too much work for me.

Give me a box of 2 Alarm Chili Mix and 2 pounds of ground deer meat and I'm good to go. And don't forget 1 can of dark red kidney beans!

Dos Equis? I would have gone with a Guinness or some sort of stout.

That said, it looks good. I like beans in my chili as well. It adds more substance and flavor. frick Texas. They can have their cubed meat and red sauce. Much like Cincinnati and their "chili", there is a reason no one else does it that way. The more beans and corn, the better.

How the hell can you compare Texas chili to Cincy?

OP basically made Texas chili, btw. Only with tomatoes and beans.

I made a big batch back in November....put a quart in the freezer for reserve. Threw it in the fridge about an hour ago to start the thawing process and just stumbled on this thread. Looks like a lot of folks had the same idea for the cold weather coming.

I thought it looked like Texas chili too. What makes a chili a Texas chili?
