Some of you may have ordered lunch from here before. We just went for dinner for the first time.

Ordered yesterday in advance. Showed up for 7. No cork fee on wine.

Appetizers were prompt and excellent. Lobster ravioli. Shrimp and crab egg rolls.

Entrées were equally impressive. Pork chop on yams. Stuffed whole snapper. New york strip with mushroom sauce. Tomahawk ribeye.

Desserts were bread pudding and a lemon icebox pie.

The breadpudding was insanely delicate and light. Everyone agreed the custard pie was the best lemon custard anyone had had.

How in god's name is this place not packed?

I’m sure the fact that there has been zero marketing and they are trying to run a high end restaurant tucked away on a side street in the middle of an industrial complex has nothing to do with it.

and the fact that most people (myself included) had no idea it existed until today

I live in Baton Rouge and consider myself extremely well versed in the restaurant scene in town... and I've literally never heard of this place before.

Can someone break that name down for me? It's like Ruth's Chris in that I am not sure what it means.

Is it Chef Charles House? Or is this Chef Charles and it's his house? Or what?

And is Bis'treaux different than a Bistreaux?

Honestly confused what's going on there. And, as noted by others, I can't believe I haven't heard of this place.

This irrationally angers me. Doesn't make sense, but it do.

As do grammatic error on menus:

Thin "slice" medallion

Peppers and onions "serve" on a bed of cream grits

I would advise not expecting the trappings of a fine restaurant. While his wife did a fine job, the food was the entire focus.

There were literally zero errors in method, flavor, or ingredients. Given I've never been able to say that, I'm impressed.

How do they advertise/inform people of their business?

They must know the obscurity of their location requires some level of public awareness?

The Industriplex location has a lot to do with it. Breakfast and lunch makes sense, dinner does not.

As others have said, I’ve never heard of it. I looked it up and the food looks good but the fact that everything online is branded “chef charles” is extremely pretentious.

They are marketing the man, not the restaurant and food.

Anyway, if the food is good, I wish them luck.

Yea but you can’t overlook the small details like menus if you want to set yourself in a class above.

Are we missing an apostrophe somewhere? Feel like that would clear some things up
