What are some decent smokers? Don’t want to spend a lot of money. I have a Weber Genesis 2 gas grill, black stone, just need a charcoal smoker now

Depending on how much you will cook, the WSM 18” or 22” will be the perfect setup!

Oklahoma Joe Bronco. $299 and it comes with everything you need.

FWIW if you want to stick to strictly Weber the WSMs are on sale at Bbqguys. com

This is an awesome barrel smoker.

Unless you want to spend more or looking for a grill vs smoker option

Buy a Weber kettle. You can upgrade by adding a Smoke n Sear insert and it will do just about everything you need. You'll probably want some type of thermometer to to control kettle & meat temps. You'd be all in with everything for less than $300.

I really like that Bronco. Perfect for what I’m looking for. I like the Weber but no reason to spend the extra $250

I've been looking at the Masterbilt Gravity Series. They can go from 140-700 degrees. I seen a guy in YouTube smoke some wings then crank up the heat, put a pot of cooking oil on and fry his wings in the smoker.

I got one of these earlier this year. Very happy with it so far. Very good temperature regulation. Not very efficient, but I’m okay with that due to the ease of use.

I've heard good things, not great. They seem pretty easy to use.

Stalk your local Walmarts online for sales on the Bronco Drum. Or monitor Brickseek.com. I got mine for $200 after tax but I’ve heard of ppl getting it for cheaper than that. It’s a great smoker for the price.

I smoke using both a Weber Kettle and an 18" Weber Smokey Mountian. Both are great. 18" will give you a big more space to smoke because of the 2 racks, but the Kettle works great! I love the versatility of it.

Eventually I would like to move up to the Summit Charcoal, but for now, these two are just fine.

I have a Gravity series as well, been very happy with it. Only compliant is exactly efficiency. The ease of use is great though, and I have not used my WSM since I got it.

Depends on how much meat you want to smoke at one time. I went with the Weber Kettle since I was just starting and I could get it, plus accessories, for ~$200. Eventually if I start needing to cook multiple big cuts at a time I will have to get something else. But for 99.999% of my cooks this is enough.

ETA: You don't have to get a slow n' sear to do indirect smoking on a kettle either. You can use one of the generic charcoal baskets that come with it - those will work just fine. Especially if you have a water pan underneath to catch any drippings/stablize the temps. I WOULD advise piling coals on one side without some type of basket however, especially if you have a colored kettle, as it can cause the outside enamel to show cracking after a while.

If he already has a grill (I know it's propane) then why would he buy a kettle if he is only looking to smoke with it?

Seems like there are other rigs out there specifically designed for smoking that are probably easier to use in that function.

If he was buying one item do to it all then I would agree that a kettle or ceramic cooker would be a great choice.
