Still worth 10 dollars for Caniac Combo?
$10.00 for:
- 6 soggy, sweaty, flavorless chicken strips (what do they marinate them in, water?).
- Soggy, limp fries.
- Coleslaw
- 2 cane's sauces (which is good)
- Texas toast (which is good)
- 32 oz drink (that's really only about 10 oz due to the amount of ice in there).
You tell me...

At Cane's I usually get the Box, sub toast for slaw + extra sauce, no drink. It costs $7.05. I think it's a pretty reasonable price.
I could get a similar product at Popeye's for $2-3 fewer, but the customer service at Cane's is worth the extra $$$ to me.
If I have time, I'll head to Plucker's. At lunch, you can get 3 (or is it 4?) enormous tenders in a variety of flavors + waffle fries for $7.95 plus tax.
As far as quality/quantity of food per dollar, I think Popeye's and Plucker's have better chicken tenders, but Cane's is almost always more convenient.

I used to walk my dog by Todd Graves' house in college and it seemed like there would be a new Cadillac or Ferrari there every other month

When Todd was building the first one, I told him that the idea was a failure on arrival. Oh to have invested a bit into the venture, retirement would be sweet. But I can honestly say I have eaten there once, and was not impressed, the taste of fried cardboard does nothing for me.

no there wasn't.

I stopped going there like three price increases ago.

That's kind of how I feel. I don't eat it often, but if I'm stuck with fast food and there's a Canes and something else around, I'll most likely go to Canes as I know I'll be treated like a human being there.

So from reading several posts, it's not worth trying Canes. Thanks, saves me from wasting money on one of their measly four menu options.

So people would turn down better tasting food at a better price because they workers at the drivethrough are nicer? That's crazy.

I'll never go back, it's just too much for what it is. When a Box combo was $5 with a drink it was money.
They raised their prices and give you less.
I also hate that they give you 22oz of ice and 2oz of coke in their cups.
Popeyes has better chicken finger IMO.

Have you ever heard of an economic thing called inflation? That chicken you eat is a function of that concept. The producers have higher COSTS, and they pass it down to the consumer(you). Go look at the energy sector now, and wonder about the "costs" for that bit of bird.
Ok, but Taco Bell and McDonalds prices didn't increase in the same curve.
For that matter, do you really think we are getting a good deal?
What do you think a chicken tenderloin cost? Or french fries?
Their mark-up is ridiculous.

Absolutely not, it's been overpriced for about 5 years

It's chicken. I bet that box cost them under a buck.

I really don't understand some of these people talking about customer service.
I'm certainly not making the decision about where I'm going to talk to someone through a window at based on how sunny their disposition might be.
If I was eating in, I might consider it, but probably not because you still only deal with them for about 30 seconds.

I've never understood the love for tasteless chicken with a side of mayonnaise sauce.

The sauce and toast are pretty good
Posted on 4/29/12 at 6:01 pm to LouisianaLady
The sauce is gross IMO. The toast is the only thing I think is okay, and I sure as shite am not going somewhere for their bread garnish.
I don't understand the customer service argument either. If you like the food, just say you like the food. You make yourself look stupid when you say you don't really like the food and think other fast food is better, but it's convenient and they're "nice".
