I can't see myself going to Raising Canes. I have never been there but is their chicken so good that it's only worth having 4 options to choose from there? I saw their menu on their website and was turned away because Zaxby's has a much bigger menu and has awesome shakes.

Sometimes I think I want Canes, but I end up getting Popeys everytime instead.

I quit years ago when they reduced the number of strips. Shame for them, because I used to go at least once a week.
I can't believe they raised the prices AGAIN. 5 dollar Caniac, sweet tea, and sub a canes sauce for coleslaw. Man I miss those days.

I still go. It's still good. I get the three finger combo. Costs about 7 bucks. Not out of the realm of pricing that would foreclose the option for me.

It's certainly not that I can't afford it. I just don't eat there on principle anymore.
I just really didn't appreciate that it was okay to have more in the box, and then they decided that if they gave you less people would still pay the same.
I drive past a Cane's every single day when I leave my office for lunch and on the way home. They will not get my business (although, I will say I had it recently when it was a co-workers day to grab lunch and he grabbed that without consulting with me).

Well this is simple economics. If their elasticity of demand is such that offering less for more money can be accomplished without a significant decrease in quantity demanded, they would be idiots to not do it.

I absolutely understand the economics behind it (if you believe my LSU finance/econ degree is worth a damn). I DON'T have to appreciate it and continue to give them my business.

Have you ever heard of an economic thing called inflation? That chicken you eat is a function of that concept. The producers have higher COSTS, and they pass it down to the consumer(you). Go look at the energy sector now, and wonder about the "costs" for that bit of bird.

Most people have. It's a pretty fundamental concept. You're not revealing anything earth-shattering.

Without doing any research, it does seem as if Cane's has increased its costs much more frequently than other producers of chicken. I can still get some damn good cheap fried chicken at Popeye's.

If your theory was correct, every place that serves chicken would be seeing a dramatic increase in the price of chicken. Oh? What's that? Only Cane's charges 10 dollars for 4 pieces of chicken?

Inflation is one of the main causes of this price increase. Your gallon of milk and gasoline has increased drastically over the past few years. This is all due to elementary economics and inflation. The minimum wage rate has also increased, as well as insurance costs for the company. Yes, that's right, the free national insurance has a direct impact on you, the common tax paying consumer's pocketbook every direction you turn.

Never said you didn't understand it. Just don't understand why you seem upset about it when it's so easily explainable.

Further, Cane's still has a significant presence in Louisiana and are strong supporters of LSU athletics. I would love to have another big corporate sponsor and I like to see Cane's continuing to grow.

Because I didn't appreciate it. That's just as simple. Nothing Cane's has done indicates to me that they are about the customer. Do you think that if the price of chicken went down, they would reduce the cost of a box? I still don't buy that everyone here actually thinks this is ONLY a product of inflation.
I think their product is not worth what they charge for it, and if you buy the argument that it's wholly inflation related, then that's just unfortunate for the company.
They simply lost me as a customer when they increased the cost and decreased the amount. I no longer have a demand for their product.

It could cost 50 cents.. Cane's is greasy and makes my stomach do flips.

For a finance/econ guy you sure seem to take rational business decisions in a strange way. As if they're personally attacking their customers or something. And IMO, they have easily the best fast food workers outside of maybe Chik-fil-A. Not even close either.

And it seems that you must be in the minority for them to continue to increase the prices.

The nutritional info at Canes keeps it of my list of potential eateries

Sounds like they're going too far. I eat there on occasion. Is it possible they may be overconfident and greedy with raising such high prices as the reason more so than raising prices to cover expenses?
I'm no economic or business expert but it would seem such high prices would be too far beyond the competion.

Maybe I need to make this a little clearer. I understand why they did what they did it. From a business standpoint, I completely get it. From a personal standpoint, it pissed me off and I quit eating there.
