damn, I loved that place. Worked with Manny and his sister back in the day. They're an awesome family.

Semi-related. Their location used to be a burger place in the 80s didn't it?

Loved this place. Pizza was great. Lunch was awesome. Bummer.

Really sucks, they had the best pizza and pasta in Lafayette. It was our favorite restaurant in Lafayette over the past 4 years.
From what I’ve heard it just sounds like Manny is burnt out. I’m sure COVID hurt their business quite a bit.

Never been but I have been wanting to try their pizza.

that sucks balls ... amazing pizza, Juicy Lucy hamburger never disappointed, and the hummus is probably the best I've ever had. IMO, this was easily one of the top 5 restaurants in Laffy.

I think a big problem they had (at least as of like 6 months ago) is they never reopened their inside since covid started. So if you wanted to eat there you had to sit outside under their tent which was shitty.

They opened the inside in May or June, but I do think that hurt them.
They also had some waiter/waitress turnover in the months before COVID that also didn’t help them, service went downhill.
ETA: it was April that they opened the inside

Tried to eat there a month ago. One waiter for the entire restaurant, no bartender. Place was about half full. They asked if we could come back in an hour.
Best margherita(sp) in town. Good food.
Ended up at marcellos

I haven't been in quite a while, but it was one of my favorite restaurants in Lafayette. Damned shame.

They had a few issues.
1) Took covid restrictions way too seriously and took pride in running customers off. Personally watched them run off a few elderly patrons. Some who were just doing pickup
2) Front staff was clearly drug addled and stealing. (I was offered liquor off the receipt more than once)
3) They allowed shitty preppy neighborhood kids to act like idiots outside and bother their customers. (On more than one occasion I watched kids ride bikes THROUGH the makeshift dining area)
Their food was never in question, but they really needed to tighten up. And maybe don't let the blue hair heroin addict decide who the restaurant will, and won't, be serving

So, it was a go woke go broke situation?

I would say 90% that and 10% their prices should have been 30-40% higher.
I got one of the best pizzas of my life there... And I paid dominos prices for it.
That's not good value, that's a bad business model.

Yes, i think they also made news for putting out an antitrump restaurant t shirt a few years ago as well which lost them some customers in one of the reddest large cities in LA

I feel bad for the owners.
They really needed someone to just sit down with them and say, "stfu and push your product."
The end.
