Boil Boss

Anyone use one of these? At $75, seems kinda pricey. Good ole water hose seems to do the trick!

Yeah, considering a hose pipe and my thumb can perform the same function.

using water just makes your burner rust unless its stainless

adding ice waters down the seasonings of whatever sits on top so thats not a good option either

all i do is when its cooked i pull the basket out and let it sit cocked at 45 angle on top of pot and leave it like that for about 10 minutes, then i drop it back into the pot that is still hot but no longer boiling, and the stuff in the basket has cooled off so it sucks in the water really good because heat flows from warmest to coolest. i let it soak for anywhere from 30-45 minutes and its done.

works great and no need for any water hose or ice

You can just hose it down yourself. Or add ice. $75 for that is comical.

If you feel you need this thing, what you really need is a better cooking technique.

I would rather water down the boil than add plastic to almost boiling water...

I add frozen ears of corn to bring the temp down.

Ive tested various cooling methods

Frozen corn does nothing

The best thing to do is a combo of spraying the outside of the pot, spray the top with a spread mist, and stir from the bottom up

The stirring helps the most.

It’s not like you are just adding plastic, there is ice behind the plastic. It is not going to melt. They also make BPA/phthalate free gallon jugs.
