BGE vs Pellet

Tried to search so apologize in advance if this has been covered....
I have had a Large BGE (not Extra Large or XXL) for about 10 years and also have a built-in gas Blaze grill.
I use the gas grill for quick stuff (steak, burgers, chicken breasts, fish, etc) during the week.
I use the BGE to do ribs or pulled pork once a month and the customary turkey at Thanksgiving and Christmas.
I don't do a ton of cooking out but thinking of adding a Pellet Grill to the mix because people I know love them. Unfortunately, I don't know anyone that have both a BGE and Pellet so looking for some comparisons.
A comparison (pros/cons of each) from people that have both the BGE and Pellet would be great.
If I add the Pellet, I dont want to spend more than $600-$800 because I am not sure how much I will use it. I have read a lot of comparisons on Traeger/Pit Boss/Weber/Recteq but some say quality of brand x has gone down over the years, some say x is clearly the best, etc. Any recommendations?
Thanks in advance for you replies!

I have a large BGE and Traeger.
I use the BGE 95% of the time. My issue with the Traeger is the heating element goes out mid cook when smoking. It does not do this every time, but 7 or 8 out of 10 it will cut off at some point.
I absolutely love my BGE.

pellet grills are trash. stick with your bge and gasser.

Never had a BGE. However, I do have a recteq pellet smoke (2-3 years old). Would never consider anything else after how easy this thing is.

I have a BGE and a Traeger and use the TRaeger about 95% of the time. Love the turn it on and automated nature of it for everyday meals. Not always ready to spend the time to deal with charcoal and light fires etc. Now on a weekend with beers and cooking a good steak it is the best.

I'd save your money and buy a Thermoworks signals set and the fan for your BGE. It turns it into a set it and forget it grill as far as temperature goes. I've got ample time cooking on both and have had multiple pellet grills over the years. You can't argue with the ease of use, but food tastes better off of the BGE and it's more versatile.

I used my Kamado Joe for smoking a butt this past weekend, I got the fire and smoke I needed to hold 250F for hours, so what do I, or you, need a smoker for? I have a small gas grill for small meals.
I do get tired of smoked meats, frequently use none or lite smoke. It's a strong flavor that I really like sometimes, but not all the time.

I have both, if I’m cooking hot and fast I use my BGE, if I’m cooking for an extended period of time (ie overnight) I use my pellet.
I know quite a few folks who have both.

Thanks for all the replies folks!
Based on the responses, I am clearly still on the fence (ha ha!).

I have a blaze, bge, and recteq. Recteq gets most of the use with blaze #2. I like my bge, and used to use it all the time, but the pellet grill for smoking is just easier. I have had zero problems, knock on wood, with the recteq.

We have both, as well as a stick smoker.
Bge for dinner cooks. Stick smoker for longer cooks or bigger meats.
Don’t use pellet anymore.

I would sell your Lg BGE and get an XL. LOVE mine and can do everything on it.

Look into a gravity, ease of pellet, taste closer to stick than pellet or bge.

I’ve got a PK360. It’s not as good of a smoker as a BGE and not as convenient as a gas grill, but it’s versatile enough that I can grill or smoke dinner for my family without much hassle.
That’s why, if I were in your shoes, I don’t think a pellet grill would fill a major gap for me. With the BGE and gas grill, you’ve already got those bases covered.
If you just want a new toy, I’d look at something that gives you a completely different cooking option. An outdoor fryer or griddle would be more interesting options to me.

If you get a pellet grill, you will love it and you will cook everything on it. The food won’t be as good, but nobody will notice but you.

I spent a lot of money on a Traeger and used my Weber kettle for most of my smokes. I hate to say it but I think the Traeger and the pellets are useless

Pellet grills serve the same purpose as gas grills IMO
That’s not an insult.

I have both and I haven’t bought lump for my BGE in 2 years. My recteq gets all the action. I love the flavor of an egg but cannot beat the convenience of a pellet for a busy lifestyle.
ETA: I had traeger before recteq and there is absolutely no comparison.
