My method is simple. I place thick cut bacon in a non-stick skillet that is not heated yet and crank the temp to medium-hi. Turn a couple of times until desired level of char and place on a plate with a paper towel.

Sometimes I will cook in the skillet then finish in the microwave for 45 seconds while cooking my eggs in the bacon grease.

What say you, fdb?

Cooking eggs in bacon grease is the most disgusting way to prepare eggs.

Oven is the best way to get perfect bacon. I can get mine pretty damn perfect in my skillet cooking it on medium for a couple minutes then turn down to medium-low for the remainder.

But probably the tastiest.

Fat = flavor

Healthy = not as flavorful

fact.

I can get mine good in a skillet, but when I was a breakfast cook, I would cook them in an oven on parchment paper. I tried that recently at home and got really good bacon.

Also the key is, to pull it out when it is still a little limp, it will stiffen as it cools.

I agree some of the worst eggs I have ever had were cooked that way. An over salted greasy mess.

THIS

and bacon grease is far better for you than that canola shite you've been plasticizing your arteries with.

butter, coconut oil, bacon grease, olive oil and rendered lard is some of the best fats you can put into your body.

what is MINDBLOWING is people still believe this fat is bad for you.

Get this:

I use the flat side and put the bacon on while the griddle is cold. Turn it on 300 degrees, leave it for maybe 7 minutes. I do it in the mornings and can leave it while I go finish getting ready. Never burned!

Agree with your sentiment 1000%. He is doing it wrong ith too much grease in the pan. It needs just enough to be able to splash it on the top of the egg without ever flipping it.

i have trouble with bacon too. often end up cooking it in the oven because i cant seem to get it right...particularly the 2nd or 3rd batch in a cast iron skillet.

since you will only have a cold grill surface for the first few pieces..is there a trick to doing the rest since they will be soaking in hot bacon grease? do you have to keep scraping the grease off?

i'd really like a technique that i can use with my one iron skillet to knock out a whole pound of bacon with minimal hassle.

I cooked bacon and then the eggs in the grease yesterday outside on my coleman stove. Not much better than that

I use a cast iron skillet on the range, I prefer my bacon somewhat "medium" with lightly crisped edges and a more tender center...

The Cuisinart griddler has a slightly sloped surface and a little pan in the bottom to catch excess grease. The surface will still be greasy, but not the puddle of grease you'll find in a pan.

I usually only cook a few slices for myself in the morning, but when cooking more than that you just have to watch the rest of it instead of leaving it like you can on the cold griddle. As for excess grease, I just wipe it off with a paper towel since a lot of it rolls off into the catch pan.

Bacon in the oven. Drain grease 3/4 of the way through to get it to crisp up if that's your thing. I like mine somewhat limp to barely crispy.

Don't forget to save the drippings. They're the best addition to just about any vegetable dish. I've even used drippings in place of butter when making cookies... awesome.
