Most people on this board like to talk about bourbon or scotch. I need some good vodkas. Personally I love ketel one over grey goose , but both are good. If I look to go a little cheaper I love some Titos. Point me in the direction of some vodkas that aren't talked about as much.

Once you get past a certain point is there really any difference between good vodkas?

Nope. Vodka is vodka is vodka. I'd be willing to bet just about anybody that they couldn't tell the difference between decent vodkas in a blind tasting.

Not to hijack thread but has anyone tried cathead vodka? I imagine it is crap but wondering because it is locally made.

Sobieski is the best cheap vodka around and it's not even close. It wouldn't be my choice for a martini though. That would be Ketel One, Belvedere, Chopin, or Grey Goose.

Perhaps not, but you definitely can the next morning,

I usually buy either Ketel One or Tito's. And I never buy liquor at retail price. I know what I like and I buy it when it's on sale. I have a bottle of Ketel One in my freezer right now that I paid $17.99 for.

Ultimat. Polish vodka comprised of potato, wheat and rye. $40 and well worth it if you like dirty martinis or just straight up.

See the thread about mixing drinks with vodka. Most people like Tito's or Smirnoff, with a few that like svedka. I used to only drink Ketel one, but once you mix it with anything, you might as well be drinking smirnoff or svedka. No cheaper than one of those, though. Takka, burnett's and store brands are a no go for me, although I have heard that albertson's brand is not bad.

yup! It's like Absolute Vodka to me. I would drink it in a bloody mary. But for something like a Cosmo or a dirty martini, I would prefer Grey Goose or Ketel One. But I would buy Cathead Vodka over Absolute or Burnett's.

I usually stick with the favorites (Goose, Absolute, Ketel) but I managed to get my hands on Crystal Head Vodka, and I mainly got it because of the bottle. But when I chilled it and took a shot, man o man. What a vodka! This is the smoothest vodka I've ever had. I think it has a very distinctly sweet taste which is hard to ignore and is actually pretty great! It definitely has a burn though, but its a much more bearable burn than the kind that lots of other vodkas on the market have. Personally I think that getting this Vodka is a MUST!

There was a Vodka thread last week. Tito's was the overwhelming favorite.
