Hopper's had a good roast beef. Brunet's for shrimp. RIP, kings.

Chimes BBQ Shrimp Poboy. They also used to have a blackened alligator special that was solid.

Haven't found a basic fried shrimp or oyster that stands out from the rest. George's is usually our go-to.

Almost forgot about Elsie's Arlington Special Poboy.

That's not a poboy baw, it's delicious, but it's microwaved deli meat on a hoagie bun.

"Rocco's Big Boy" - Jordy Hultberg during every damn LSU baseball game 10 years or so ago

Have no idea but I hated that commercial.

The new Zee Zee Gardens has some good ones. Cuban and shrimp poboy are great. Hell they even got a Darrell’s Special knockoff.

It's been a couple decades, but the foot long (actually longer) shrimp poboy from Save More was legit. It was like 4 bucks too. Pair it with a case of Milwaukee's best and you're ready for a round of golf at Howell Park.

Yall can downvote me all you want about me saying Rocco's is trash, but I stand by my opinion. This is my photo from my last visit to Rocco's. I ordered the “Crescent City Combo” with a side of extra gravy. I assumed the gravy would be the debris gravy from their roast beef. Instead I proceeded to watch as the guy went to back and pulled out an industrial-sized can of generic brown gravy, opened the top, and dumped it into a big vat and then layered it on the sandwich and filled a little cup with it for the extra I’d requested. When he brought it to me I asked, “Wait, y’all use canned gravy?” to which he replied, “I mean yeah, we can’t make it fresh every day.” I should’ve told him I didn’t want it but I’d already paid and I was hungry. Brought it home, took one bite, and threw it in the trash. Manda sliced roast beef with canned gravy. It was fricking terrible.

All the food we’ve had there has been great.

And their happy hour is one of the best in BR.

Pretty sure it’s cheaper to buy Jucifer there than buying a sixer at Bet-R
