My vote for the best pizza I’ve had goes to Angelo’s next to the Late Show Theatre. It was the crust. I’ve only eaten there once, so I don’t know if my experience is representative, but it was the best crust I’ve had.
People rave about John’s but I didn’t think it was fantastic. Good, but not exceptional. My wife loves it so we eat there if we are in NYC.

Grimaldi’s in Brooklyn lived up to the hype when I was in NYC a few years back. Tonight I had Pizza Delicious in NO for the first time, and it was the best pizza I’ve had since that.

My buddy used to live on the lower East side of Manhattan. I spent a couple of weeks with him one summer and he lived around the corner from this little stereotypical NYC pizza joint. It was little more than a storefront, an oven, a counter, and three or maybe four tables. I don't even remember the name because there was nothing special about it other than that pie was friggin' delicious. I must've eaten four or five pies while I was there. While my buddy was at work and I was on my own for the day, I'd just grab a slice and wander around lower Manhattan taking in the city and eating my pizza. I've been trying to find its equal since.
Nothing, and I mean nothing, comes close to a real NYC slice hot and folded in half. It's something about the crust. There's the claim that it's the NYC water that makes all the difference in the crust and I tend to believe it.

Those hot dog pizzas in Italy crack me up. A pizza shop counter person in Florence told me that Germans ordered most of them.

That sound better than the pizza I saw in Ireland with corn on it

Recently it was Malborghetto in Florence. Fell in love with the Margherita there. Perfect ingredients.

Grimaldi's in brooklyn and Pizza Suprema are the best I've had up to date.
I used to love a place in Chicago too called Homeslice. Love that style of pizza.

Best thin crust I’ve had was on a road trip, at J Bella’s in Paducah, KY. The crust was almost like a cracker - so thin and so crispy. Loaded with toppings too, which were all very fresh - had a “homemade” feel to it.
Locally, Ben’s in da Parish is in a class all by itself. Love it or hate it, there’s nothing else like it.

quote:Back in that time frame, I ordered one of the Godfather 5-pound pizzas (I don't remember the name but it had the works on it). Well, after it didn't come after about an hour I called to complain. After a while longer, the manager himself appeared at my door with a pizza he made personally. It was the best chain pizza I ever had. It was perfectly balanced and hot.
