I will be staying in the middle of Times Square for a couple of days next week and I am looking for the best, convenient pizzeria nearby. Also any suggestions for a good sit down Italian restaurant nearby would be helpful too.

I enjoyed John's Pizzeria in Times Square. There are a bunch of coal fired brick ovens in each corner that you can watch them make and bake your pizza.

Seriously? There are countless discussions about this on the internet, and they will all agree on at least one thing: stay the frick away from food in Times Square.

Hard to go wrong with NY pizza in NYC. Almost anywhere you go will be good.

If you're willing to walk 20 minutes, one of my favorite spots in the city is near MSG/Penn Station on 8th and 31st. It's called NY Pizza Suprema. Phenomenal stuff.

He did say in a later post it's his first time, so I don't think it is all too surprising / out-of-the-ordinary...?

I second Johns. Was the first New York Pizza I ever had in my life on a similar type of trip.

Not my absolute favorite place, but it is in a good location and is pretty good

There's nothing inherently wrong with staying in Times Square, though I don't advise it. However, you should do everything you can to avoid eating there. The one benefit to staying where you are is you're sitting on one of the biggest subway stations in the city. Don't worry about walking distance and take the subway somewhere decent.

I love the stain glass on the ceiling, good place.

Its pizza in nyc, throw a stone and you'll find a good pizza joint.

John's. Delicious pizza in a cool looking place that used to be a church. This may be my favorite pizza this side of Italy.

Go with Johns. It's killer. Give yourself a little time. The place is always packed. It is worth a 20-30 min wait though. They have a bar to take care of your needs while you wait.
