The flatbreads at The Gregory are also top notch.

Just had Regenelli’s Detroit style pepperoni. It was next level. My wife, who normally orders thin crust, loved it.

Anyone try Fat Boys Pizza on LSUs campus? I’ve never had it, but seen some people eating outside and slices look like huge/oversized NY style thin crust.

Some of the most highly regarded mozzarella is Grande for Pizzas. I talked with their rep in the area a couple of weeks ago, one restaurant in BR uses it

I got excited when I saw this and called in this evening to place a Detroit style order. They were out Detroit style. WTF
Baton Rouge pizza scene is definitely lacking.

City Slice is the best when it's on. Specifically the duck bacon pizza or the Heisman (Smoked chicken). Unfortunately they aren't very consistent and the crust can be anywhere from chewy and great to basically burnt.

Definitely can skip out on trying this place.
How’s motza’s?

City slice is my fav but I understand I am an outlier. I love the purple sauce.
Rocca is the best “upscale” pizza, and has a great vibe.
RZ has some good, interesting options. But, is like a thin crust frozen pizza to me. Craft beer selection and bustling “pizza joint” vibe elevate the restaurant overall.
All the other places (rotolos, fat boys, motzas) are pretty indistinguishable to me. Rotolos C&C is different, but not in a particularly special way.

Fat Boys is terrible. I thought I had covid because the pizza had no taste.

Roma’s is greasy yummy brilliance.
I've never been here, but just looked it up and holy crap that looks exactly how I like pizza. At places like that, I don't even get toppings. I like just a greasy, foldable slice of cheese.
I agree with most that Red Zep and Rocca are great. I give the edge to Red Zep because I just like American style pizza so much more than neapolitan.

It's not a pizza place, but the pizza at Whole Foods is criminally underrated.

Bistro Italia’s East Coast Classic is my favorite but everything at that place is very good.
I know everyone likes something a little different but others that I like:
Fleur de Lis
Red Zeppelin
Lit
Never been to Rocca but want to soon.

Truth! It’s vastly better when reheated on a flat top or large skillet. The crust gets a little crispy like New Haven style pizza and the flavors develop kind of like second day spaghetti.

Bistro Italia on Coursey
A truly hidden gem.

Admittedly I haven’t been to a lot of them in BR. Agreed on Whole Foods pizza . It’s one of my favorites
I usually go to Lit by campus and very much enjoy it and the variations

My opinion differs here. I think their pizza is great. You like what you like.
