If you order it with the fried eggplant, he knows you know and you get less contempt.

I love meatball po boys and I’ve a few really good ones
Ny, Chicago and a few places in New Orleans really stand out but my favorite is a place in Covington called Bears. Something about that meatball po boy is outstanding to me

In BR, surprisingly my favorite meatball poboy is at Phil's Oyster bar. 2nd fav is at Jed's. 3rd fav is Anthony's deli.

Ha. I was going to post these exact 3 as my favorites. I had the Phil's one the other day as a very random order and was surprised at how good it is.

I remember the place. It was an older shop. We called it the Sausage Factory (although you really couldn’t make out the name with faded paint). They had a display case on the right hand side that had a few link of sausage in it but that was it. They had a killer meatball poboy that was cheap and canned coke in an ice chest. We would go there for lunch and eat in the stools on the left. It seems like it was on it’s last days. I was working in James Industrial Park at the time in the late 90’s.

That would be a great question for Tom Fitzmorris if, well, you know, he still had a memory.

If you call right now you'll get right in.

You just don’t know the man. He’s the treasure of Coursey Blvd .And yes the food is excellent.

Vita is not my favorite, but Pokey is one of the kindest people I know, I've seen him do some very nice things. He is in failing health now, I need to get by there soon.

to OP, could it have been Giovencos? It was on the corner of Roosevelt and Airline Hwy. Basically a deer processing place

I just checked on Google Maps for the place I was thinking of. It's now listed as Big Bertha BBQ and Seafood (2510 Airline Hwy). It was painted white in the late 90's but that's the place.

Excellent poboy as is his roast beef boy. I regularly buy quarts of his tomato sauce.

He is having bad breathing problems and complains about it openly and has cut his hours to 10 am to 3 pm M-F only. I think his wife is more hornery than Pokie.

shite most of the arguing is between him and Vita. But man those spaghetti and meatballs.

I was behind a guy one day that asked to order French fries and I thought I was going to have to duck. That guy got mother fricked up one side and down the other and I was wiping spittle from my face. I had heard he was having problems and I haven’t been in a couple years.

Neither one is afraid to drop a big N bomb right in the middle of the lunch rush.

I love meatball sandwiches but I get annoyed because as you take a bite, the meatballs roll out the other end

I try to hold the end closed but then they spill out of where the bread is sliced.

But I love the taste.
