best King Cake is always Manny Randazzo's, and I don't want to hear anything else on the matter.

I got mine being shipped to me in tennessee in early Feb!

PSA, for you others that want a Manny Randazzo's cake shipped, you need to get your order placed way ahead of time. If you want until a week before Mardi Gras to try and order, they will be sold out of all shipping days.

I really liked this one from La Petite Sophie a few years ago when I tried it

Never been. Are they traditional Louisiana style or French pastry? Which location do you recommend?

I find myself pretty fortunate to have a bakery near me in Denver that has a really good King Cake. Raspberry, cream cheese or cinnamon...options are limited, but damn, are they good and remind me of my dad surprising us with them when we were kids

If I’m in Slidell I pick up at Randazzo’s’s Camellia City Bakery. There my second favorite next to Manny’s.

Nothing better than walking through that door holding a king cake. Instant hero.

Acadian Baker's in Houston is closed. It doesn't appear to have relocated, so I'm removing it.

If anyone else can confirm that HEB's King Cakes suck, I'll remove them too.

1. Manny Randazzo
2. Haydels

Everything in BR doesn't compare.

Nontraditional:

Meche's - Lafayette
Mikey's - New Roads
Thee Heavenly Donut - Baton Rouge & St. George
Dong Phuong - New Orleans (east)
Berrytown - Hammond
Keller's - Lafayette
La Petite Sophie (French Pastry Style) - New Orleans

you should split these up into specialty and donut style. You have some excellent king cakes mixed up with some terrible donut king cakes. someone looking for something unique may see meches and skip over some great king cakes. those donut king cakes shouldnt even be in the same breath as dong phoung, kellers, etc.

Even if I agreed, I want to include a list of good King Cakes from various points in the state since most don't ship and people aren't travelling as much this year because of Covid and Mardi Gras being cancelled.

No doubt. I think it’s a good idea.
