Where are you staying?

Good breweries in the Gulch area include Yazoo and Jackalope. Just around the corner from these is my personal favorite BBQ joint, Peg Leg Porker.

Tons of other breweries around, and plenty of good BBQ too, depending on where you might be staying.

If you are a beer and food fan, I would hit up Pharmacy burger in East Nash.

It's the best food and craft beer IMHO.

Skip Yazoo. The space is nice but I wasn’t impressed with the beer.

Bearded Iris is very good. There was a place in East Nashville that started with an S...drawing a blank but great spot.

The only BBQ place I went to was Peg Leg Porker and it was very good. I’m sure others will say there are better spots, just telling you what I experienced.

ETA: Southern Grist is what I was thinking of.

That's only if you like NEIPAs. If you want a more diverse line-up, hit up Smith and Lentz or Southern Grist. Both are on the east side.

Closer to your part of town, I'd do Martins BBQ on Belmont and then follow up dinner with beers at Craft Brewed on 8th ave.

Bearded Iris, tailgate beer, and Southern Grist brewing.

Across the street from Southern Grist is a cool vinyl shop/bar if your into that and down the road is Pepperfire hot chicken.

How is the lunch? Is it different from the dinner?

We went there for dinner and found it to be very underwhelming and overly expensive for what it was.

The space was beautiful though.

I wonder how different it is (menu and chef/sous chef wise) than the one in Charleston. It is easily one of Charleston's best restaurants.

As for the topic, Peg Leg Porker was the best BBQ we had in Nashville. Although not BBQ, Hatty B's Hot Chicken was very good as well. Drizzle some honey on it to get an explosion of sweet and spicy.

Breweries - I've done Yazoo, Tennessee Brew Works, Jackalope, and Rock Bottom.

Rock Bottom is nice break from all the Honky Tonks. The beer is alright.

Jackalope is alright. Strange staff. They have an incredible peach beer, but I don't think it is in season.

Yazoo is the Nashville original. Get the Sue if you like smokey stouts. You won't regret it. They have some good IPA varieties as well.

Tennessee Brew Works is an incredible facility. Hands down more impressive than any others. They have a great sweet potato stout and a beat saison that I remember enjoying.

I'd also add that Nelson's Green Briar Distillery is really interesting, if you're into Bourbon.

For BBQ, you can't go wrong with Martin's, PegLeg Porker, and Edley's.

For Breweries, it really depends on what you like:

Tier 1:
Bearded Iris - Primarily NEIPAs, plus the occasional specialty porter/stout (Waffle Talk,V. Latte, etc.)

Southern Grist - NEIPAs, fruited sours, pastry stouts, and coconut beers. Go to the new location on Centennial.

Smith & Lentz - A wide range of styles, including some excellent IPAs.

Mantra - Best and widest variety of sours in the area, though a bit of a drive to the taproom in Franklin.

Tier 2:
Black Abbey - More of a Belgian-style approach. Really nice taproom and good folks.

New Heights - Good at stronger, darker beers, particularly their Navel Gazer stout and variations.

Yazoo/Jackelope/Blackstone - All are solid.

Tier 3:
Tailgate - Nice space and taproom. Probably the broadest array of styles in town, but also a bit hit & miss. Good place if you have a big group, especially the music row location at the roundabout/musica statue.

Little Harpeth - Good beers, but limited. Lagers only. Very low-key location with lots of inside games (ping-pong, cornhole, giant Jenga, etc.)

Tennessee Brew Works - Great space and food, decent beers.

Same can be said for East Nashville Beer Works, though less emphasis on the food.

Czann's - Cozy space and only ~6 or so taps. Good beers, but limited.

Tier 4:
Turtle Anarchy, Mill Creek, Mayday, Cool Springs Brewery - Either no taproom or not worth the drive

Breweries - Beared Iris, Southern Grist, Smith & Lentz

BBQ - Martin’s, Peg Leg Proker, Smokin Thighs

Based upon where you are staying, go down and try dinner at Urban Grub (good beer list as well).
