Everybody saying High Life. It seems more prominent and available now than it’s been in a couple of decades. It used to actually be hard to find. Now it’s sort of the hipsterish equivalent to PBR.

A friend of my dad’s bought something like 10 cases of Billy Beer. He was certain that it would be worth a lot of money one day both by beer collectors and political memorabilia collectors. I know he hung onto it for a number of years but I don’t know if he ever got rid of it. Of course, he’s dead now.

And, of course, it’s not worth a damn thing. Right now a can of Billy Beer is worth about $.25. Maybe if his ancestors hang onto it for another 200 years, it might rise in price to $.50 a can.

I couldn't tell you the last time I drank or saw anyone drink a new belgium beer.

Fat Tire was the coolest shite in high school/college if you could scrap together the cash every now and then.

How would you have ranked Jax, Falstaff, Regal and Dixie?

They all tasted like horse pee, but when you're 14 and can get beer - you take what you can get.

Not the Jax I grew up with.

Port Orleans was supposed to have purchased the original recipe along with the rights. I think it hit the market in late November or early December. We have sold a couple of kegs worth and have some bottles also.

My beer rep said a bunch was purchased by Rouses, but after that buy it has been sitting in most of their stores.

Man I'm getting a headache just reading this thread. Thank goodness for better options and me finally getting smart enough to keep it low volume.

Wow, Newcastle really has fallen off hasn’t it?

It was ruined by Heineken and Lagunitas:

“Lagunitas Brewing Company is one of the most recognized and respected brewers in the craft beer space,” commented Amy Tay, brand director. “Now with Lagunitas in the family, we have the perfect partner to reimagine our beloved Newcastle Brown Ale.”

Anchor was bought by Sapporo, they changed the iconic label to appeal to a younger crowd, lost national distribution and eventually closed in the summer of 2023. Not long ago, the founder of Chobani bought the brewery and IP with plans to crank it back up

I smuggled a 6-pack of CC Malt Liquor (brewed by Pearl) into Tiger Stadium in my camera bag. That, combined with me taking Contact cold medicine, meant it was a wierd night.

Ahhh Moosehead beer. Liked the beer in the 80's and sported the baseball shirt with the logo.

Mixing alcohol with OTC meds usually leads to "experiences".

obviously still being made just not as widely distributed, similarly to a bunch of imports mentioned and not mentioned in this thread like labatts blue, carlsberg, st pauli girl, etc etc. the original wave of import beers. Lowenbrau was kinda/sorta marketed as a “domestic import” with the German sounding name, and michelob was the “premium domestic” of choice.

good times and so funny to remember when you see the endless craft beer choices available now. The only non domestic beers I ever drink now are Mexican Vienna lagers
