I have been since the re-opening. I appreciate the creativity and variety in their menu. Unfortunately, the food isn't as good as the menu. I felt after two visits that they are trying too hard and should simplfy some. I think this menu may be overly ambitious for them.

We shall see for sure. It is very ambitious but the good thing is this is the only menu available on New Year's Eve so they will be able to fully concentrate on it.

+1

Pretty much nailed my experience. Wasn't a bad meal by any means, just not as good as I think it should have been. Trying to do too much both in individually conceived dishes and in the menu as a whole.

$80 seems like a hell of a deal for that kind of menu. That’s one of the most intense, complex menus I’ve ever seen.

That menu looks awesome. Very ambitious would be a good descriptor for it.

Am I understanding this right? $80 for food and another $40 for a wine pairing with each dish? If so that not a bad deal IMO.

Correct. I am tempted to do the wine pairings.

Because you're going to laugh at the portion sizes and leave still hungry. At least that's what happened to me on my visit, and I ordered off the regular menu.

That wouldn't even be a question for me. 100% do it.

I've done multiple courses at restaurants before. I think we'll be okay.

But if not, some Taco Bell to ring in the New Year would be

I don't mean to be harsh but the menu reads like what a newly graduated Culinary School graduate would attempt to cook for an intimate New Years Eve Party to impress their friends - way to ambitious even for a Tasting Menu - Sorry, this is not a meal I would pay $80/person to try regardless of how many bottles of wine goes with the meal - just my thoughts -

I can assure you, they will screw it up and pretend everything is fine after someone roasts them in a review.

ETA:

Prepare for improper prep on course 4 ruining your meal.

c'mon now...its not that complex

amuse is a cold omelette
1st course is a shucked oyster
2nd course is a soup
3rd course is a sweetbread
4th course is a sausage
5th course is a fish
6th course is a steak
last is chocolate and frozen desserts

what is overly ambitious about this?

The Chef is a very talented guy who has worked for Charley Trotter, Emeril and many other major league chefs around the country

The menu is ambitious and he must be killing himself to even attempt to pull it off.

They are as cutting edge as anyone in BR or NOLA. Let’s hope they can pull it off

Lot of foams and mousse. Hope he does well but my days with those menus are pretty much done. I’m in a simple roasted fish perfectly executed with a simple vegetable phase.

I’ll wait and try his regular menu when I get a chance.

But it is New Years Eve so go big or go home. Would like to see his wine and champagne pairings.
