BBQ and inflation

Just tried the Shed on Burbank. First time in the venue. Has lots of potential for a cool place to hang out, drink a beer and watch a game. But…
I ordered the 2 meat plate with 2 sides. And an iced tea. With the one-click tip thing at the register, my bill was $30.
My buddy got a pulled pork sandwich, a side and a water. $18.
The bbq was okay, but not THAT good. Not sure I’m going back. Is this the new normal?

A combo plate, with 2 sides, is $21.50. You can Jumbo your combo for $3 more. I guess a drink is aboot $3.
Before you Jumbo'ed it up to 4,000 calories, did you ask "What would Mingo do?"
Also, with the prices clearly on the menu, and you seeing the prices before you ordered, what part is confusing you?

I looked at their website; the prices look pretty normal for where bbq has been the last couple years. Combo is a little high. Sorry if you fell for a high autograt on the ipad. I hate the autograt.

While inflation may be part of the problem, generally speaking, BBQ prices have gone off the fricking rails in the last few years.

The shed in MS is over rated. Not bad but not great. Just OK but a really neat place to stop. I’d imagine that’s what they have going on in BR too.

Rouse's on Burbank has the big pork spareribs for $1.49/lb. To get that, with potatoes, and corn, you could feed 3 people a big meal for $20. and have leftovers.

Wait…are you saying it’s cheaper to cook and eat at home than it is to eat out at a restaurant?

Brisket before the pandemic was $14.99/lb at the places I frequented. They are now $30-35/lb.

I'd say the prices are in line, nothing unusual there. Quality could be argued as it already is lol.

Most fast casual places the last 2 years ask for a tip at checkout now. Since they are generally running with less employees than the pre-pandemic days, I don’t see the harm in throwing a few extra dollars to them.

Those once dirt cheap cuts of meat aren't so cheap anymore. Pork Butt and Chicken are the last two every day bbq options available for cheap from a grocery store.
Ribs are stupid expensive for what they are. I don't understand as they aren't common in cooking outside of bbq.

The OP is saying how high the price of his meal is but could have saved a few bucks by not tipping. Hell I had a person make me red beans and rice for lunch yesterday. Scoops of rice and scoops of beans. Handed me my container. "Would you like to leave a tip?"
