Driving into Baton Rouge Saturday to take my college freshman and a couple friends to early dinner. They would like seafood. Needs to be casual enough for a college age kid BUT I don’t want to eat off of plastic. Let’s say tops $35 a plate before dessert.

Where would you send us?

Thank you. That was my first thought but probably because I’ve not lived there in forever.

I’m open to other suggestions and since I’m picking them up it can be outside if LSU campus footprint.

Parrains or the Chimes, both owned by the same people. Parrains has less fried food and more sauteed fish

LA Lagniappe - overall best seafood especially if you are looking for something other than deep fried everything.

Mike Anderson’s and Parrains - both have solid fried and broiler options. Large menus at both.

I went to Mike Anderson’s the other day since I hadn’t been in years...it was okay. I’d go to Parrains if I was OP.

Parrain's. I think Mike Andersons has fallen off dramatically from the Mike Andersons of the past. I would skip it.

Parrains has plenty of non-fried options. Their fish dishes are great. I usually get the andouille-crusted reddish or the BBQ drum, and both are awesome.

Parrains if near campus
Chimes if near campus

Chimes East if across town
Willies if across town (have crawfish now)

I like Willies, but their crawfish are terrible

I don’t mind them, and I like the accessibility. But rest of the menu is solid and I like the brighter/fun atmosphere more than Chimes dark/old atmosphere
