Tis true, with the holiday and beer week finding Jai Alai was a challenge... I'm sure they'll ramp up production soon...

I saw somewhere on my twitter last week that they had announced an expansion to annual capacity. No BD for me, I need to shed these lbs so I'm going to try and take it easy on weeknights until I can right size this weight gain. Did get in a swim and a bike ride on the lake though, and this Dr. Pepper 10 is actually pretty legit.

4bd another victory hop devil. Pretty ok for me. Reminds me of a great divide brew.

Just picked up a nice little haul at Stein's. Got all the new ST beers, Stone ERIS, and a bottle of Ommegang Hennepin.

Seeing as I never had a saison before and I'm trying to branch out from my usual ales and stouts, what am I to expect with the Hennepin?

Love Hennepin. It represents that style well IMO.

Good to hear How "sour" are we talking? Does it have a hop presence? Or is it more like a sour, wheat type?

Been waiting to break this news once I get a firm date. They were meeting with distributors the last week of December. I can't seem to get a good timetable though.

Sorry, didn't mean to steal the scoop. I knew we had talked about Sweetwater before, wasn't sure about Terrapin. I'm not sure they have a timetable set, it sounded like they were thinking soon, but I'm sure there's a lot of hoops to jump through.

5BD-Hopitoulas can, straight from the source. Tastes better than I remember, still don't love it. Too bitter without the hop flavor to back it up. I keep hoping I will like it, but it's just not there for me.

You have every right to

Just never got around to picking up a saison/farmhouse brew before. Hoping this will open up a new light.

That was my reaction too, kfiz. I haven't ever tried any Terrapin, but I got my hands on some Lagunitas while I was in Austin and man..

Pretty light. Little bit of citrus. Very refreshing. Not much aftertaste.

- Kirk (NOLA head honcho) met with ABC commissioner recently and they agreed that it is legal for breweries to sell directly (up to 10% of total volume). They are in the process of getting permits to be able to sell directly. This is big not just for them, but for guys like Parish and some of the smaller new brewers.

- Sweetwater is coming as well, date TBD.

There's certainly breweries that make singular better beers, but as far as I know, I've never had a single Lagunitas beer I didn't like. IMO they have a combination of consistent and high-quality brews that makes them one of my favorite breweries. I was honestly REALLY pissed off when I realized we didn't get it in La.

eta: and saison's are my second favorite style behind IPAs.

Me too. In keeping with the Rye theme, FBD is a Great Lakes Rye of the Tiger.

Won't be sour at all. Hops will let themselves be known with a moderate crisp bitterness, but otherwise would be overlooked if you didn't know it was there. Expect a dry, spicey front with fruit to follow.
