Artificial Sweeteners...why do they all taste so bad?

why do they all taste so bad and leave such a lasting aftertaste, to me.
Am I the only one? I used some of my wife's Choc Whey Protein Isolate powder today, mixed with unsweet almond milk. I instantly detected artificial sweetener. Sure enough. Stevia. the aftertaste lasted long after I had brushed my teeth and finally gave way after some coffee at work.

stevia is not an artificial sweetener it’s plant based, but highly processed to remove the natural licorice type aftertaste. It’s just a different glucose molecule. True synthetics like nutrasweet are pretty horrible though and definitely not anything you should consume.
the reason alternative sweeteners taste different than pure glucose/fructose is that the chemistry is different

They all have an aftertaste. I drink coffee black. Once you get used to drinking it black -- which doesn't take long -- sweetened coffee tastes nasty.

I like Splenda so much I travel with it. I have tried stevia stuff as well as monk fruit and I just can't do it.

I use about half a teaspoon of sugar. I consider those 8 calories all but negligible. I'll never get what people think they are really "saving" in the grand scheme of things by using artificial shite for their coffee.

Then drink a can of coke(39g of Sugar).
One sugar packet is @4g Sugar. Just add a single packet and be done with it.

Stevia isn't that bad. You just have to add very conservatively because the taste can be overpowering

This is the way.
I use xylo in my neti pot as it's a natural sinus infection inhibitor

I'm not watching sugar intake. If you want to sweeten it, use sugar or leave it unsweetened.
If I'm ingesting a non sugar, non HFCS sweetener, it's usually by mistake.
(or in cough syrup etc.)

The only one I've ever noticed was aspartame. But I also want my stuff barely sweet.

I use this brand of stevia in my coffee and don't find that it has an after taste. Tried lots of other stevia that does.

Real Stevia is. Fake Stevia is just sugar with a molecule added and marketed under the brand name.

yall be careful with that xylitol it’s fatally toxic to dogs. Just in case you didn’t know

I like Stevia, I just make sure it's not mixed with Erythritol. I use it in my coffee every morning, and in iced tea when I drink it. I used to use Splenda or Equal, but never the pink stuff.
I also like Diet Coke way more than regular coke. I'd rather have artificial sweeteners than HFCS.

I use a Allulose / Monkfruit sweetener and it’s not bitter or tastes bad.

I've had protein beverages that use monkfruit and I didn't find it off putting
