First episode the challenger is the guy that started Coquette and Turkey and the Wolf ( I actually didn't realize that was the same guy)

I thought it was a very enjoyable episode and enjoyed watching him in that element.

I won't post any spoilers about any of the episodes but I've been binging it and it's enjoyable so far.

I have. I loved the Japanese version and to a little lesser extent America.

Alton is my favorite food tv guy. I like Kristin a lot. The ham factor is way up there. Andrew Zimmern is a set judge. Yup.

I know T&W seems to catch a lot of hate here but the guy seemed pretty good. A little too whimsical for my taste. I have not been to any of his places so don’t know if it’s warranted or not.

I've been to coquette 4 times albeit about 10 or more years ago in each instance but I really enjoyed my experience every time.

The whimsical stuff might get tiring as a theme based sort of place but I did find the episode fun to watch.

I really enjoyed the young female chef Zepata. I thought she killed it. Would love to see her go against the Mexican iron chef

I think Mason just worked at Coquette, he didn’t open it. I could be wrong on that.

Turkey and The Wolf makes legitimately fantastic food. I can see how his politics scare off some people, but honestly, doesn’t bother me too much.

Their politics are a bit much for me, but you can tell Mason is a good guy and he has a good sense of humor too.

This dude is pretty funny. He's in a few episodes of Eater & Munchies that are entertaining.

Michael Stoltzfus / Kristen Essig started coquette. Mason was just a cook there. Mason started turkey and the wolf and Mollys rise and shine. I was born in 1986 and love the late 80-90’s nostalgia homage themes of his restaurants. I believe he’s originally from a North Carolina. Just know that at his restaurants Black trans lives matter and he supports bake sales for abortions.

Battle tailgate was, frankly, amazing. I couldn't imagine having to judge that.

Mason got straight up curb stomped by Oliver Stone. Was like an NBA player going against a high schooler.

Eh, he was clearly beat, but Mason represented himself and his food well. It’s not like he went out there and scored a 50 or got laughed off the stage.

It’s not to take away what Mason has accomplished but when his food was put up against a clearly refined chef in Stone, there was just a very large talent gap. Honestly Mason probably got paired against the worst chef he could have been paired against.

Iit’s cool he was on it but he would be better on chopped than iron chef.

Style wise

He literally served them trash. He plated the dish INSIDE a Fritos bag. He had a train on a track and put a lime on it.

Good for him and his exposure but good lord.

I know nothing of his politics other than what’s in this thread but I’d expect someone on iron chef to do better than toys and garbage.

I’m sorry but I can’t stand Alton Brown, but I do enjoy Iron Chef.
