Anyone here had skyline chili ?

No luck finding Cincinnati beer or la beer here. I would love chili , parmesan cheeses hint of Tabasco and 5 beers.

Found some copycat recipes online and thought about cooking it for Sunday, but I really don't want chili. Maybe I'll try it Sunday?

I've had it in Cincy and found it to be very meh. It wasn't nasty or anything but I'd be fine never eating it again.

I had it homemade buy a guy from Southern Ohio. I couldn't tell if it was awful or he just couldn't cook.

It’s basically Greek pastitsio. There are some differences, but Greek settlers in Cincy altered it to make it more palatable to the locals.
Skyline is kinda gross. My uncle used to live in Cincy and took us to a different place for Cincy chili. It was good. Forget the name of it. Not the other somewhat popular chain. This was a stand alone, local diner type place.

Get a can of Wolf's, add cinnamon, allspice and clove to it, done.

Spot on. Before going to Cincy we were told we had to go there. It tasted like something I made at Kirby Smith dorm when I was a freshman at LSU. Total meh and forgettable. If you find yourself there skip this place, you won't regret it.

They add lots of spices I would never put in chili and the Greek info in another post may explain why there are things like allspice cinnamon and nutmeg.

Ahh. Now I understand why it gets so much hate. I always though it was just because it was over spaghetti but damn I love regular chili over some macaroni. Especially mac and cheese.

Yes, it’s not really even chili. It gets its flavor from nutmeg, cinnamon, and allspice. Greek immigrants put the chili name on it because that was recognizable to the American residents, and they adapted pastitsio to make it look like chili.

This is probably about right. I had it over ten years ago and remember I thought it tasted almost sweet like they add sugar. These spices are more likely. In any case, it is terrible.

Yes I’ve had it several times in Cincinnati and Columbus. It was OK but it had a cinnamon taste that I really didn’t care for. But for fast food when I was hungry, it worked.

I have never eaten their weird chili/spaghetti concoction and would gladly try it with an open mind, but I have a feeling it's something I'm going to be into. Isn't the chili kinda weird tasting with a cinnamon flavor or something? Again, I'd happy try a 5 way, but I have a feeling I'd be happier sticking to the weird foods we have down here in south Louisiana.
