Anyone have an update on Istrouma?

Are they still planning to re-open?
Originally I heard they were closed for renovations, then I heard they had permitting/licensing issues.
Any updates?

They had great food at one time and the beer was, at best, average.
All I got.
All I got.

I’ve messaged them a couple times but never received a response. I hope they reopen; cool place to eat some snacks, drink beer, and listen to live music, and the kids like the farm animals

Nothing on FB since June

Supposedly they owe people money from previous additions that were done there & never paid them. Required renovations ( the reason they had to close this summer) were going to cost too much to get them up to code. &Some kind of permit issues/violations
So between hearing those things, the neighbors saying they have not seen any work being done & the brewery’s silence on social media- I don’t have much hope butt like I said, hopefully I’m wrong

A few people are saying they didn’t pay them for their work from their previous additions. Not sure if that has anything to do with the delay… And required renovations to get them up to code were going to cost a lot. But they had to have been making money!!

I have only heard things 3rd -5th hand. One was that for permit reasons they needed to get rid of those temporary restrooms and get real ones, which requires a lot more plumbing and septic work than you would think. The other was that they are making it more of a restaurant, maybe both.

Latest word from family nearby is that they're now looking to develop the land into condos/townhomes or a neighborhood.

Just what that area needs, more townhomes or another shitty DR Horton development.

So what's the word if you know something? They were supposed to reopen 2 months ago, if they were planning to reopen you'd think they could atleast post a "hey we're behind on our renovations" kinda post, but not a word.
I hope they do reopen though, we'd drive over from Lafayette to go several times a year. Beer was always meh but the food was good, kids loved to play and check out the animals.

I live in the neighborhood. Have some friends who had kids working there. They have reached out to see if the kids were coming back to work. Should be opening soon.

I don't know, looking at the LDEQ website, Istrouma has withdrawn their water discharge permit application as "the facility is not discharging and facility operations have shut down". This was dated 9/23

I certainly hope they reopen! It's one of the most unique venues in our area and is such a fun spot to chill out and listen to a band. I hope they at least get another investor to keep it afloat!

No update? Their sign by Hwy 30 is lit up and blinking, and they put a turkey tail decoration on the round bale next to the sign.. but still no reopening date posted.

That was mostly so that DEQ could scrap the original permit application from 2020. That permit application was so old the the brewery name was "Istrouma Biere Republiqu". They were allegedly hauling off their wastewater the entire time while open. So I guess they'll continue to do that until they reapply or figure out a way around it.
