Need some tips. Doing shrimp. How much can I boil at a time? How long to boil and soak?

yes. the one tip that i have is, when you unplug it, it cools off really quick. so......if you are a soaker of shrimp/crawfish........factor that in.

I don’t get the allure of those things. Why not just use a pot and burner?
This has been discussed on this board quite extensively. I suggest doing a google search with “tigerdroppings” added to the end of your search key words.

I bought one a couple of months back and have used it 3 times. It's very convient to use if traveling as opposed to hauling a tank, a pot and a burner. I've been boiling 5 lb. potatoes, 2 lbs sausage, a dozen half corn ears and 2 lbs shrimp. The little bucket works well for what it is designed to do. It says do not use an extension cord and that is correct, I used one the first boil I did and welded the cords together, it gets very hot. If I am boiling for 4 people or less I'll use it everytime as opposed to getting out an 80 qt pot, burner and tank.

You need to use the correct gauge extension cord. The cords can melt and fuse if you are using the wrong cord for amp draw.

I thought you were referring to the hooker who plies her trade behind the Curve Lounge in Kaplan. My answer to your question is "no," then.

I did a search and couldn’t find where anyone talked about cook time for shrimp. I really don’t want to screw this up so any help is appreciated

3 page thread you started

Here are a few. Don’t use the search function on tigerdroppings. Google works better like I said just add the word “tigerdroppings” in your search
Example: “how to boil shrimp tigerdroppings”
This will give you plenty of the results you are looking for.
Good luck.

I use mine for shrimp all the time. I fill it with water to the mark on the bucket then add seasoning and corn and potatoes. Once that comes to a boil, I let it boil for about 20 minutes or until potatoes are tender depending on what size potatoes you prefer. Then I add shrimp and unplug and let soak for about two minutes. From my experience, any longer and the shrimp get tough and hard to peel. Then I drain and eat.

So do not boil the shrimp. Drop in boiling water and unplug. That seems like a short soak but I’m going to try it
Thank you
Thank you

You can definitely soak longer if you prefer. Just be careful that they don’t get overcooked.

Was gifted one and used it once so far. Not shrimp, but boiled 4# of peanuts. Worked great

Love mine , have done shrimp and crabs . Easy to use and clean .

No need to boil shrimp.
Just under a boil is fine.
Everyone has a slightly different procedure and process, so there is no “magic” time to soak. Just pull one out every five minutes till it’s just right. You’ll have to figure out your own method.

Boiling peanuts takes hours not minutes like shrimp or crawfish. I use mine exclusively for that and it works great and I don't use two propane bottles of gas.

I got one as a gift last year and have boiled shrimp s few times but have done just corn and potatoes a lot. Really easy to use.
How long are y'all doing peanuts? I've thought about it but haven't done it yet.

I boil my raw peanuts on my stove in a 4 gallon stainless steel pot and I too don't use 2 propane tanks.
I don't get why anyone would spend that amount of money on that rig when real pots are available to do the same thing. Anything you can cook in that bucket can easily be cooked on a stove.
