I heard that today. Lol. What’s up with that? He’s been to Italy many times. There was a caller that called in twice today

Idk. I'm sure there are hundreds of people who have been to New Orleans who think they have had true Cajun food on Bourbon or Decatur. You can travel someplace a lot and still not understand it. Tom strikes me as the kind of traveler who would listen to the first two or three sentences of what someone knowledgeable told him then fill in the rest with his own preconceptions.

If you want to see that attitude in action, ask him about Vietnamese food. He perceives it all as variations of pho.

Savage af

Give a caller salad dressing and sure she has the salad dressing, but send her on a wild goose chase for salad dressing and lols abounds

Cruises are not the best way to experience a culture or cuisine.

I didn’t know Tom lived in Trey Yuen country. I thought he lived in Metairie, home of traffic. Lots & lots of traffic.

You adore him, Paul. You call him.

He’s clearly past his time.

Biggest trigger point with him is seafood and tomatoes.

Andrea has to spend a lot of money with him. I have noticed if he is onto someone pushing their own new restaurant he cuts them off (assume because they aren't paying), but with Andrea he lets him roll.

In just a few months we will again learn of the deliciousness of a root beer glazed ham.

Overall I think Tom has been a good guy and great asset to the Nola food community. Used to enjoy his newsletter 15 years ago and his website was always a useful tool. His time is past now and he needs to retire.

I missed the good times when he had is food message board or actively posted on a few others and he would act like a pompous prick quite a bit and get bam bam and others fired up. They went so far as to make a website that was devoted to mocking him.

My favorite two prank calls to his show that I heard-

Guy calls in and asked if Tom liked when his salad gets tossed. Tom didn't get it and went on to explain how much he likes it.

Someone also called in sounding serious about a great Italian restaurant in Kenner. He was describing some dishes and then noted that the chef stirred his red sauce with his cock.

I actually think that guy called on more than one occasion because I remember a caller saying the soup was stirred with his penis.

A guy called in twice one day to troll him. I remember one: Asked if he knew which restaurant served the best German Shepherd.
