Anybody listen to Tom Fitzmorris lately?

I tuned in on Saturday while working around the house. I’m worried he might be losing it.
The first caller of the day called in to talk about a new German restaurant called Brats Y’all. He talked to Tom about it for around 5 min. Not 30 minutes later a caller asks Tom what the name of the new German restaurant is and Tom had no clue what the guy was talking about or that he had talked about anything German. Later on a guy calls to give a restaurant review, he proceeds to talk about the restaurant and what he got, Then Tom asks the guy how he marinated the steak. The guy was confused, and had to reiterate that he was at a restaurant.
I haven’t listen to the show much since he’s on the HD channel, was this just an off day for Tom or is really losing it?

You mean the slow smoked voice of Tom Fitzmorris?

Every once in a while I will see if he is on if I am driving in the area. The last time mom was in the car and she noticed he seemed off. It was about 2 weeks ago and someone called asking Tom where she could find this creole tomato salad dressing. She said she has been to multiple stores and can’t find it. Tom said it’s out there and he just found it while shopping a week prior. Well instead of just telling her where he got it he just wished her luck I was yelling Tom just tell her or since you know the reps, as they were giving a case away later in the show, ask her.
Anyway this isn’t as egregious as the OP but little things like this I notice every time.

His newsletter and web site have also gone downhill recently.

I'm surprised they keep him on the radio if that sort of thing is happening frequently.
I haven't looked at his dining diary lately. I forget about him since he no longer has the food forums.
ETA: There may be something wrong with his site, but his Dining Diary for 7/10 has a title about a seafood platter, but there's nothing about that in the post.

I actually did one of his eat club dinners about 10 years ago. Thoroughly enjoyed it. He moved around and spent 15-20 minutes at every table and was a great guy in person.
Sad that he is losing his marbles.

I can’t listen to him anymore. Conversations don’t flow and are always awkward.

I feel the same way. One day last week during his weekday show he had just one caller the entire two hour show. One.
I feel bad when he can’t remember where or which restaurant he is talking about and cannot provide its valid address or how to get there.

That dude in the video sounds like a dweeb

It's bad. On an almost daily basis he forgets the names and locations of sponsors and the items on their menus that he likes. He has trouble remembering that The Grille in Metairie has the same owner as the Camellia Grill.

I'm not a regular listener, nor a fan, but it's always sad to see someone declining like this. If he were a different kind of person (critic, personality, whatever term you use for him), he would have recruited a younger co-host years ago to keep things fresh and relevant.

I think he knows he's having problems. I think he's just holding on til he makes 30 years on the air, then he'll retire shortly after that and collect on his "legendary career" accolades.
I think this was his idea all along once they demoted him to HD2.

He makes 30 years tomorrow by the way.
Weren’t you the one that sent him an email about the HD radio thing?

Tomorrow makes 30 years and he hasn't been making nearly as much of a fuss about it as I would expect.

IIRC, in the United States of Arugula, there is a really sad part about the end of either James Beard or Craig Claiborne's life. When they had basically become incapable of enjoying anything and a total misanthrope. The only concession they would make is that TGI Fridays or some other chain had a really great club sandwich.

Wikipedia says he's 69.
