No mixers. No fillers. Just 3 ingredients.

Ingredients

2 oz. Blanco Tequila (I didn't have Blanco on hand so I used Herradura Antiguo Reposado)

1 oz. Cointreau

1 oz. Fresh Lime Juice

(Optional: a splash of simple syrup if the limes are too tart)

Ice

Preparation

Step 1
Combine Tequila, Cointreau, and lime juice in a shaker and add ice.

Step 2
Shake and strain into a glass. You can put coarse salt on the rim if you like, but IMO it's not necessary.

Step 3
Garnish with a lime wheel.

Fresh squeezed lime is the key and it is glorious. Very rarely will you get fresh squeezed at all bars/restaurants , even the higher end ones.

True dat. I tried making it with the lime juice concentrate from the local grocery store and it's just not the same. But wow, use fresh lime juice and a good tequila and it's up there with any cocktail I've had. And the damn thing packs a punch too.

I add a drop of agave nectar for sweetness.
My portions may be a little different, but that basically my recipe. There’s no reason to buy crappy mixes

I didn't even think of that. That's a great idea.

Love it. Love the simplicity. If I’m feeling extra a shot of grand marnier but not every time certainly.

Same goes for a daiquiri. I don’t know why people reach for pre-made mixes loaded with sugar and shitty ingredients.

Tommy’s in San Francisco has the best recipe imo

2 ounces blanco tequila
1 ounce lime juice, freshly squeezed
1/2 ounce agave nectar
Garnish: salt rim

Rub the rim of a rocks glass with a lime wedge, dip the rim in salt to coat, and set aside.

Add the tequila, lime juice, and agave nectar to a shaker with ice.

Shake until well-chilled.

Strain over fresh ice into the prepared glass.

Try using juice of 1 lime and juice of half a lemon.

And as stated, about 1/2 or 3/4 oz of agave nectar

Do you have a good recipe for a daiquiri? I'd love to try making one at home.

Do you mean an original daiquiri? Then I like a mixture of a 2,1,1 mixture.
2 oz white rum (no Bacardi), quality
1 oz simple syrup
1 oz fresh squeezed lime juice

I have even gone up to 4:1:1 Rum.

Before I settled on a margarita recipe we tried Cointreau, grand mariner and dry curaçao and the dry curaçao was the crowd favorite

Agree 100% fresh lime juice is the best, but Key Lime juice works in a pinch. I keep a bottle of Nellie & Joe's on hand for emergencies...much better than any regular bottled lime juice.
