No offense. But can’t find find this on many other beaches?

There's plenty of "snots" who vacation here. But I now live here, away from the beach, in a pleasant community about 10 minutes away.

There are also plenty of "snots" who own short-term rentals in the area. Ugh. Follow some of the pages on FB and you will see plenty of self-promotion, friends recommending businesses of friends, deniers when red tide comes through (it's allergies, we don't have red tide), hurricane deniers (we never get hurricanes), biting black fly deniers (it's mosquitos, use bug spray [nothing works for biting flies]), people promoting expensive, crappy eateries (imho, being from Louisiana, I am a culinary snob) ... but the flip side is that it's beautiful land with plenty of kind, down-to-earth people who live and work here. Plenty of outdoor activities - hiking, swimming, boating, fishing, biking, and day trips to fresh water springs, state parks, u-pick farms, exploring. West end of 30A is a prime location and launch point for many activities!

Not in my opinon. Topsail Hill Preserve is 3 miles of pristine, undeveloped natural coastline with two large dune lakes and 1,643 acres of natural habitat (coastal wetlands and forest). Between Tops'l @ Sandestin and Ft. Panic where 30A reaches the Gulf on the west end.

Well said.

I would be enthralled to find a grilled grouper sandwich right now.

Don't know where you are located, but there's plenty of grouper sandwiches available from Pensacola to Panama City!

Shot in the dark and off topic, but do you know where I can find a good pickleball game out there? I read Walton Sports Complex has courts.

There are only something like 5 places in the world that have dune lakes

OP, with young kids take them to Bayou Bill's on 98

I was down there during a tropical storm once. Eastern lake got full and started emptying into the gulf. It was a sight to see and the outflow grew larger and larger throughout the day. Very impressive.

TD has a lot of posters that shite on 30A while taking their beach vacation in Galveston. 30A is awesome.

I like that brewery in Grayton.

Crust on 98 is awesome Italian food. You can get the owners/chefs to serve you family style or just order off the menu.

Went a few years back, I thought it was way overrated. Kinda cliquish IMO.

Used to enjoy vacationing in Grayton Beach or Destin every year. I live in Port St Lucie, now, and just can't justify driving all the way to Destin. Atlanta is much closer to Destin than I am.

That being said, I used to love going to the Boathouse for Oysters. The ambience is superb, if it hasn't fallen in the water by now. The smell of salt water, fish, oysters, beer, and sweat is memorable.

I don't know about Ft Walton, but if you're ever in Port St Lucie, I can set you up. My community has 27 pickleball courts. It's huge down here. We actually hosted the APP World Pickleball Open here this past December. Pickleball players outnumber tennis players 10:1. Crazy.

TD takes a shite on everything. Its like a bunch of grouchy 85 year old men pretending to be college kids live on the OT.

glad you are getting some good suggestions. there is nothing wrong with going on vacation at a nice clean beach and asking about good places to eat.

having said that, gaston turned me on to buddy's seafood market for some great steamed shrimp and other yummy fresh seafood to go.
